Every time Matt Owens spoke about One Piece, you could tell he grew up and loved that franchise with a passion and knew exactly what made it work.
Every time Albert Kim talks about Avatar, you can tell he views Animation as a lesser medium.

TOP GUN MAVERICK is the least cynical Hollywood film in maybe a decade. No winking, no deconstruction, no arch attempts to outsmart the audience. Just a big satisfying heartwarming well made piece of mainstream entertainment. I freaking loved it.

The Oscars are trying to appeal to a broader, younger audience this year by getting beloved comedian Amy Schumer to host the show and totally forgetting to invite Rachel Zegler...finger is totally on that Gen Z pulse, guys

One of the loveliest things about T2 is how amid all the shocking, gruesome violence, punk-ass kid John Connor obstinately clings to his moral code against taking human life. Compare it to the other '90s sci-fi action films and it's even more remarkable.
James Cameron finds a child pointing a gun “morally reprehensible,” which is why Edward Furlong is never holding one in 'Terminator 2.' It also makes John Connor out to be more of a “cerebral leader.”
See what else we learned from Cameron's commentary: bit.ly/3xepfTz

it's insane how you could release Andrew Garfield's Amazing Spider-Man movies today and they'd easily get much more positive reception than they did in 2012/2014 because superhero movies that look and sound *that* good just aren't nearly as commonplace anymore

Superman should have an out of shape, dad bod.
Think about it.
Nothing he does on Earth would give his Kryptonian body a challenge. Lifting a car would be like lifting a Q-tip. No effort he exerted here would burn any calories.
He'd still be Superman. Just chunky and flabby.

You too could have made Bo Burnham's Inside if you just had a $4000 camera. And could rent out a property for a year. And work on something with no other income during that time. And had thousands of dollars worth or other equipment. And a Netflix deal.

I'm just saying, whoever decided Yami Yugi should go "d-d-d-duel" in the theme should've been given like a million dollar raise.

Here's the entire shot, in real time, with audio!
Just look at the mastery at work, here, folks. You could probably watch this a dozen times and still notice new things about the shot. The choreography is super complicated, yet the shot tells a simple story. Movies are great.

Richard Donner's big heart & effervescent charm shone in his movies through the remarkable performances of his cast, which is no mean feat. You remember all the characters in Superman, Lethal Weapon, The Goonies & more, because Donner knew how to capture that magic onscreen. 1/3
