Manhattan D.A. Alvin Bragg in today’s 15-year sentence for Harvey Weinstein:
“Today was about the survivors. Ms. Haley, her remarks were powerful, moving, and eloquent. I thank her first and foremost, and all of the survivors who came to lend their support. I’m moved, as we should all be moved, by their courage and their steadfastness through what has obviously been a challenging process.”
Gloria Allred — who has represented Mimi Haley since she first came forward against Weinstein years ago — applauds her client for being the only woman to testify twice at trial and obtain two convictions from two separate juries.
“Mimi underwent a trial by fire twice, and prevailed both times,” Allred says in a statement. “Mimi is a true hero. She has survived all attempts both inside and outside of court to discredit her or question her motives.”
Allred calls the cross-examination of Mimi Haley “ugly, vicious, and extremely challenging,” saying that she “refused to be intimidated, deterred, or bullied.”
“To describe Mimi as courageous is an understatement,” Allred says. “She stood in her truth, and she has been a role model in courage for many others who have been hurt by rich, powerful, famous men.”
Allred says that the #MeToo movement is not over & that it’s stronger than ever: “Women are empowered in a way that they have never been before. The women’s movement is alive and well in the hearts and minds of millions of
women and girls.”

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg announced Monday the seizure of celebrity deepfake websites that were accessible in Manhattan and across the state.
Those types of sites use AI to alter video, audio or pictures to realistically mimic famous people doing or saying things they never actually did, including pornographic acts. CBS News' @annaschecter has more.
