Dr. Keith Flaherty, Director Exp Therapeutics, MGH, AACR President delivers Keynote entitled “Extending the Boundaries of Bedside-to-Bench Translational Research to Realize Rational Combination Therapies” at the 2026 WIN Symposium at the Rhode Island Convention Center in Providence, Rhode Island, USA. Keith T. Flaherty, MD, FAACR is a Member, Scientific Advisory Board, WIN Consortium. He is the Richard Saltonstall Chair in Oncology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School, USA and President of the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). As described in more than 350 peer reviewed primary research reports he has authored or co-authored, Dr. Flaherty and colleagues made several seminal observations that have defined the treatment of melanoma when they established the efficacy of BRAF, MEK and combined BRAF/MEK inhibition in patients with metastatic melanoma in a series of New England Journal of Medicine articles for which Dr. Flaherty was the first or senior author. He was the principal investigator of the NCI MATCH trial, the first NCI-sponsored trial assigning patients to targeted therapy independent of tumor type on the basis of DNA sequencing detection of oncogenes. Dr. Flaherty joined the NCI Board of Scientific Advisors in 2018 (chair 2021-23), the AACR Board of Directors in 2019, and was elected President of AACR in 2025. Dr. Flaherty co-founded Loxo Oncology in 2013 and Scorpion Therapeutics in 2020, serving on the board of directors through the acquisitions of both by Eli Lilly in 2019 and 2025. He co-founded X4 Pharmaceuticals, privately held Strata Oncology (2015), Apricity Oncology (2017), Gyges Oncology (2020), Khora Therapeutics (2024), and Monimoi Therapeutics (2025). Dr. Flaherty's presentation was ~24 minutes long followed by ~18 minutes of questions by global leaders in precision oncology, AI, clinical oncology, and patient advocacy. youtube.com/watch?v=R83QStfI… @WIN_Consortium @Dr_R_Kurzrock @AACR @AACRPres @AmericanCancer @ASCO @SewantiLimaye @LiaTsimberidou @LussierY @LiangChengMD @DrRoyHerbst @VivekSubbiah @CancerConnector @JiaJennyLiu @TaberneroJosep @jrgralow @curijoey @oncodaily @Oncotarget @theNCI @NCIDirector @AACI_Cancer

I am truly honored by this peer recognition at the 2026 WIN Symposium. I was delighted to see the global community come together and affirm the importance and intent to collaborate. For anyone who attended the symposium, this was heartfelt, genuine, and strengthened by the presence of cancer survivors who were with us. I look forward to seeing new trials, strong advocacy, international cooperation and more evidence generated to drive the field of precision oncology. I am proud of how the WIN leadership team came together to organize the meeting and grateful to all my amazing colleagues who made this WIN Symposium one of the best conferences I’ve attended. @Dr_R_Kurzrock @SewantiLimaye @LiaTsimberidou @VivekSubbiah @LussierY @carisls @ASCO @DrRoyHerbst @LiangChengMD @curijoey @AACRPres @rwsobol @SenduraiMani @charlesbalchmd @WIN_Consortium @RueterJens @JiaJennyLiu @AmericanCancer @billdahutmd @jrgralow @targetcancer @bcarneiro7 @BrownUniversity @BrownMedicine @BrownPathology @CancerConnector @TempusAI @GuardantHealth @ConcertAI @AACI_Cancer @ConquerCancerFd @SU2C @TaberneroJosep @drKMusallam @MiaForRep @JoeShekarchi @ACSCAN @ACSCANRI @SWOG @eaonc @NRGonc @theNCI @NIHDirector_Jay @NCIDirector @corrie_painter @Oncotarget @oncodaily

In my opening plenary presentation at the 2026 WIN Symposium, I shared our joint vision in the field of precision oncology to help patients with cancer today and in the future. This requires collaboration by all stakeholders to address the issues patients face. This year we had some focus on screening and prevention as well as on global issues patients face everywhere for access and affordability. What is the best we can do for patients with cancer today with all the advances in medical science, technologies, and therapeutics? Oncology patients today don’t have time to wait beyond benefit from standard of care and clinical trials. What more can we do when treatment options run out or aren’t effective to begin with? The WIN Consortium Molecular Tumor Board regularly brings together global leaders and experts in precision oncology along with sub-specialty disease experts to discuss and provide helpful information about possible options to consider. Our Disease Committees established in the last two years provide a venue to discuss novel concepts and collaborate with colleagues around the world. We are pursuing studies to demonstrate the value of precision oncology. This includes analysis of real-world data through global collaboration, implementation of maturing clinical trial concepts that take advantage of AI, technologies including functional precision medicine, various precision oncology platforms and novel therapies. The expertise within WIN and its global members includes vast clinical experience, expertise in first-in-human drug development, solving problems while advocating for patients. The WIN Consortium has been active and will be expanding the outreach for the purpose of providing education in precision oncology. We were fortunate to have with us the inaugural class of WIN Consortium Fellows from the US, Romania, and India at the 2026 WIN Symposium. I invited the global participants to connect with each other, to collaborate in innovative ways for the future of the field of precision oncology. The community is strong, like-minded, and determined to succeed in advancing precision oncology as an option for each patient. WIN understands the challenges well and aims to impact on key aspects including regulatory issues, technology and drug access, access to experts, education, incentives for collaboration and always trying to incorporate the latest advances. The vision of the WIN Consortium founders is alive and well. I welcome our colleagues from academia, professional societies, government, advocacy groups and industry to join the efforts of the WIN Consortium non-profit organization.
