Geothermal energy allows communities to harvest their own clean energy- with strategic impact for Europe. It brings lithium to our economy, clean heat to greenhouses & industry, and new sources of base energy (storage).

On the next mandate of the @EU_Commission, Daniel Mes at #CES2024:
“The next mandate should be about simplifying regulation, so that we get more investment on the ground.”
We are 1️⃣ step further in giving a European boost to transport via longer trucks. Today, the @Europarl_EN voted in favour of this quick win to cut our fossil fuel use and reduce congestion on our roads.
This is a good deal for climate and economy.
The @EU_Commission plans to boost transport via longer trucks. A business like @NinatransBE shows the quick positive impact this can have on energy use, driver shortages and congestion: major issues facing our goods transport- in a safe way. Here’s what we plan to do 👇🏻
Under the law that Parliament approved,longer trucks can drive cross-border between supportive EU countries. Special weight allowances prepare for 0️⃣ emission trucks whilst other EU work helps rail to compete.
Longer trucks are part of our whole journey to sustainable transport.

It was a pleasure to spend a day with @DanielMesEU at our Sluiskil plant & showcase where 12 million tons of #CO2 will be captured & liquefied in the next 15 years to be then permanently stored on the 🇳🇴 continental shelf.

@yara’s plant in Sluiskil is a pioneer in capturing co2, storing it in Norwegian seas. We will help to ensure success. We support early clarity on the framework for storage in 🇳🇴 and will explore, with industry, steps to make low-carbon fertilizers a business case for customers.

We're recommending that the 2040 climate target should be a 90% emission cut, provided we manage to enhance the just transition for our citizens and the competitiveness of our businesses.
