🇬🇧 Dear friends, if I may, I would like to respectfully address a matter of concern.
Is it truly appropriate to rely on artificial intelligence #AI to generate photos of the deceased? Whether it is for the mourning announcement, the funeral program, or even the thumbnail of the YouTube livestream link for the burial service, we too often find that the shared image bears absolutely no resemblance to the departed individual we are honoring. Should we not discontinue this practice and make a systematic effort to find a genuine photograph of the deceased for all these materials?
In all honesty, the current trend is inappropriate, and we must correct it. Let a lack of recent photos no longer serve as an excuse. Is it believable that someone could go through a long illness without a single real photograph being found or preserved by anyone?
AI-generated images detract from the dignity of mourning.
I offer this reflection in all kindness, with no intention to cause offense.

In 1948, a photo summarized centuries of injustice. The man in suit and tie, standing before photographers, broke into tears. He was George Gillette, leader of the Mandan, Arikara, and Hidatsa tribes of the Missouri River.
The document in his hands was not a negotiated settlement. It was the forced secession of ancestral lands from his people to the U.S. government. More than 150,000 native ancestral acres, full of homes, schools, churches, and fertile fields. The US government forced him to hand over the land so they could flood it all by building the Garrison dam.
Gillette knew that with his signature he sealed a permanent tragedy. But if he didn’t, the tribes would receive NO compensation, The US government would simply take the land. Through tears he said "Today we sign under protest. Our hands are tied, but our hearts are sad."
The dam flooded entire villages, erased old communities, and buried centuries of indigenous history.
We must not whitewash American history in our schools.
Wahora niki?

In October 1978, 58-year old Cardinal Karol Wojtyła arrived in Rome for the funeral of Pope John Paul I and the Conclave to elect his successor.
Before leaving Poland, the communist authorities confiscated his diplomatic passport, leaving him with only his tourist passport. One provincial secretary of the Communist Party warned him: “Go, go. When you return, we will settle accounts.”
But Karol did not seem worried. At the airport, a television crew awaited him, and he looked around with a calm, almost amused expression as the cameras followed him.
They Communist authorities were waiting for him in Poland but they didn't know that God had a bigger plan for him. The next time he returned to Poland, he returned as Pope John Paul II. – at Ibadan, Nigeria
What does Formula 1 have to do with your incredible story? You are once again centering the discussion entirely around yourself. It is just like assuming that every passenger who loses their luggage should contact the airline's CEO directly!!!!or the airline? I don’t see a problem with that but honestly it is pure arrogance. If I were to follow your logic, should I resent every Nigerian I meet simply because one individual hacked my email back in 2011 and caused me to lose everything? That is absurd. Come back to reality and stop generalizing an entire nation based on your past experiences.
I started visiting Rwanda around 2010, when you still needed a visa to travel to Rwanda.
In this picture is sports, youth and culture minister Joe Habineza, with me. He died in 2021. We would hang out whenever I was in Rwanda. Went around the city of Kigali, where people recognised him and praised him.
Mr. Habineza was Rwanda’s Ambassador to Nigeria then and he would bring visa sticker to the Lagos airport from Abuja and put it on my passport and we would fly to Kigali.
I volunteered at Kwetu Institute to teach. That’s a film school owned by Eric Kabera.
This is where it gets interesting. I lost my luggage on RwandAir. After trying to reach Yvonne Makolo, its CEO and she told me they would not do anything, I came to Twitter to call them out.
On my next trip to Rwanda, 8 men in suit came to my hotel on the day I was supposed to leave and took me in and kept me in prison for 2 weeks…
Until there was an intervention from people Kagame listened to, like President Obasanjo…
When he imprisoned Paul Rusesabagina, I had to work with his family to reach out to those prominent Africans who started talking to him.
So, when you go to Rwanda for Formula 1 in 2030, which is years away, behave well.

EXCLUSIVE | Rwanda's Minister of Sport Nelly Mukazayire has hailed the 10-year Formula 1 agreement as a major milestone not only for Rwanda but for the African continent. The deal will see the country host the African Grand Prix in the early 2030s at a new circuit in Bugesera, near Kigali.

Don’t worry. I believe they are many optimistic pan-Africanist who will strive to make this opportunity a success and trust me we shall overcome those few naysayers. Rwanda & Africa at large are on the move and those of us who want to see it & contribute are already excited.
It is clearly challenging for certain observers to accept that the smallest nation on the continent #Rwanda, as they frequently emphasize, has successfully secured the hosting rights for the Formula 1 Grand Prix #formula1. Although the event has not yet begun, several countries and their citizens are already demonstrating significant pushback. We are witnessing invectives, derision, as well as afrophobic remarks. One can easily anticipate how reactions will intensify once the competition officially gets underway. This initial milestone signals future #achievements, reminding us that « Africa's progress is too often undermined from within. »
