We began testing our proof-of-concept Genesis Project as early as May 2018.
Genesis was proof that onchain art could be algorithmically sophisticated and visually compelling, while benefiting from the blockchain's distinct advantages of immutability and provable uniqueness. Genesis used blockchain hash data to create original iterations of art, specific to both the transacting wallet and the moment in time the user transacted.
Genesis by @DaCaldera, one of the first three fully onchain projects on the new Art Blocks platform, launched for collectors in November 2020.

A month of work in Marfa comes together today. I’ll be presenting There Will Be Signs at Art Blocks Gallery. The generative work, physical signs, and plans for installations across town this October.
Much of the work has grown out of moving through Marfa and the surrounding landscape, photographing signs, symbols, roads, shadows, textures, and the small visual details that begin to form a language of their own.

Erick's disruptive idea was to store the creative algorithms themselves as collectible digital assets.
By storing generative scripts on-chain, artists could focus on the creative vision while collectors could own the creative process itself, not just individual outputs.

Today's AI models (like Midjourney or LLMs) didn't invent computer-generated creativity. They built on a 60-year foundation laid by early digital artists who realized that injecting randomness into code turns cold algorithms into dynamic co-creators.

They recently hacked @ROBNESSOFFICIAL and a few others.
I will tag all their known accounts below, please go through and at least unfollow them so they don't borrow your reputation to scam others.
AB5D is a reference institution for the AB[500], the first 500 Art Blocks projects, and it's being built in part by AI agents. Progress: 15 artist dossiers now live, each a sourced, verified essay plus bibliography. ab500.xyz/artists
The dossiers aren't written by one model. GPT-5, Claude, and GLM each produce them from the same brief, and a code-enforced checker rejects anything thin: too few sources, missing or duplicate images, padded socials, broken links, undeclared authorship.
Every dossier declares the model, tokens, and cost that produced it, so there's a live leaderboard of which model writes the best art history per dollar. The archive grades the agents building it.
