Excluded from OR DP: those who didn't apply for July bar exam due to health concerns; those who experienced financial troubles and could not apply; and those who applied in other UBE jurisdictions for increased certainty. This needs to change!
Results are out for the October exam here in Oregon. 68% overall pass rate, 82% for first-time applicants. Much higher than expected given the content of the exam. Congrats to those who passed! To those who didn't, hang in there. We're still working on DP for Feb '21.
FYI - OSB mailed October bar exam results on Tuesday 11/24. Should be hitting your mailboxes soon! Results will be published on 12/7.
Back to work after a little time off. Any Oregon law students registered for the February bar interested in advocating for #diplomaprivilege?

For this story I spoke w/ Kiana Caton. Because ExamSoft uses facial recognition, tech with an earned reputation for working worst on Black women, she has to put a bright light in her face for the duration of the bar exam next week. It gives her headaches.

ExamSoft is hiring! And we’re converting the remote bar exam into a virtual job fair—for jobs at ExamSoft! AI will scan your biometrics, takeover your computer, and decide whether you’re white for the job!
Update from OSB: ExamSoft 2.4.6 will close the apple cut/paste loophole. Also, apparently version 2.4.6 has been tested on 15,000 examinees "without issue"? Seems highly unlikely given the frequency of issues discussed in the report from @dp4ny.

In the eyes of the court, the pandemic was significantly more burdensome to July applicants than October applicants. Wildfires and tech problems were given no weight. It's been an interesting, frustrating journey. Signing off to focus on work & bar prep. Best of luck to you all.
Just took practice exam #2. That MPT is rough. Couldn't have the library doc open at a readable size and view the whole answer box at the same time. Situations like this are why I have dual monitors in my office. Doing it on a 15" laptop screen is absurd.

Just a friendly reminder that ExamSoft will most likely change the background on your computer when taking the mock and actual bar exams. Exit ExamSoft, run EsWinsr.exe as an administrator, and restart to fix it.

In an interesting twist, conditions here in OR are too unsafe for COVID-19 testing. Tell me again why #diplomaprivilege was appropriate for July applicants but not for October applicants?
Super excited - AQI is out of the hazardous range and down to just unhealthy! Might try breathing outside today.

Good Afternoon, could you refer me to any students who can’t pay rent or lost a job opportunity. Working on a story for @NY1 – at Manhattan, NY

Wow.
State bars with Oct. administrations, what say you?
And let's not forget that Feb. 2021 bar exams will likely have same/similar challenges.
If not #DiplomaPrivilegeNow, please consider this. Let's get this group of graduates licensed to practice law.

Update: OR now allowing scratch paper for MPT. Still don't know limitations on the amount of paper permitted.

How do we separate fire-related overwhelming anxiety, constant worrying, trouble sleeping & depression-like symptoms from the bar exam-related overwhelming anxiety, constant worrying, trouble sleeping & depression-like symptoms? July examinees got #diplomaprivilege, how about us?
It bears repeating: Overwhelming anxiety, constant worrying, trouble sleeping, and other depression-like symptoms are common responses before, during, & after wildfires. @MultCo Mental Health Call Cntr is here 24/7 at 503-988-4888 bit.ly/3kjrVbA
And in other news, here in Multnomah County, armed vigilantes have been setting up roadblocks. They're stopping cars and demanding ID. Oh well, back to bar prep for October examinees excluded from #diplomaprivilege.

This is the view in Portland right now, taken just across the river from @lclarklaw. We have been advised that NO ONE should be outside. Meanwhile, we're still studying for the bar because October examinees are excluded from diploma privilege.
