Great talking to Jeff Church on The Political Theory Review yesterday! Felt a bit daunting to start, but a good day to talk about political legitimacy! Podcast here: podomatic.com/podcasts/thepo…

Thanks Jeff Lawson for buying the Onion so we could get this great zoom in on electoral coverage. No other news source has gone to this level of detail.

In March I published a critique of Effective Altruism in Wired. After reading the responses, especially from young EAs, I've written a long open letter to young EAs that I hope they'll find useful. docs.google.com/document/d/1…

I talked to the authors of a paper studying 150 years of global assassination attempts. Their said every failed assassination is a national identity test. In authoritarian regimes, they lead to crack downs. In democracies, they lead to ... nothing. theatlantic.com/politics/arc…

What a moment: The French left finished a close second to the French far right. To block the right in the runoff, Macron's centrists would have to drop out and support the left. An existential question for the center: Will they side with the left or usher in fascism?
Replying to @Taniel
Leader of the PS (left bloc member) just spoke. He said: Whenever PS candidate is in runoff & in 3rd place, & far-right can win, their candidate will drop out to block far-right. Will Macronists? Bayrou, a Macronist leader, just tied himself in knots to say nothing precise.
