In a short life,
An hour of leisure,
This autumn evening.
~ Buson (1716 – 1784)
Sometimes the most radical movement in the spiritual journey is the willingness to stop. To stop reaching, stop measuring, stop comparing, and stop making this moment into a stepping stone towards a better one. In this stopping, something utterly simple reveals itself: life is already here, and you are not separate from it.
There is no need to manufacture stillness. Even in the midst of thought, even while emotions are moving, even when uncertainty is present, the ground of being remains undisturbed. The challenge is not to create this stillness, but to cease overlooking it in our fascination with what comes and goes.

It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota.
To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically.
Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country.
Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case.
Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve.
In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota.
The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Trump’s lawless federal agents are terrorizing our communities—and doing nothing to actually keep Oregonians safe.

Hey folks. If you’re looking to help our fellow Floridians in the aftermath of Hurricane Isaias, we've got a specific opportunity.
Today, in Pensacola, we identified a community where young children who typically receive breakfast and lunch at school will likely go without this week.
So we are gathering food products, specifically for school age kids - snack packs, juices, cereal bars, and the like. If you are in the *Tallahassee* area, we will be collecting outside Bethel Missionary Baptist Church tomorrow (Sunday) between 11am-1pm. Look for the Uhaul. We will gather supplies and drive them to families and kids in Pensacola later in the afternoon.
For those currently recovering from the storm, you remain in our prayers, and we know state and local officials are working hard to deploy services. For those in the unique position to help with this request, thank you for your consideration.

Hillary Clinton was right then and she's right now.
many people disliked Clinton and Kamala Harris for various reasons, good and bad.
but the American electorate
made grave mistakes in rejecting these two women for Trump.
our country will pay the price for a long time.

Dear friends, during some recent medical examinations, the doctors found a small, localized nodule in my lung. It was detected at a very early stage and is well-localized. The doctors believe that it is best to intervene, so, following their advice, I have decided to undergo surgery to remove it. The operation is already scheduled to take place in the coming days. I thank you for your spiritual closeness and entrust myself to your prayers.

Very refreshing to hear an elected official speaking articulately. I reckon we will be hearing a lot more from Senator Ossoff in the next few years.

As I said, a thorough butt-kicking. Here is @Ossoff's close.
This is how he's built an unlikely lead in a senate race that was once thought to be within the reach of Republicans this year.
No longer.
Ossoff: Each time Mike has called himself a trucker tonight, you'd think he's cruising down 85 behind the wheel. This is a congressman's son who inherited a seat in Congress, who now runs his daddy's trucking company, who voted seven times for the war in Iran, who voted for the tariffs, who voted to cut your health care — all so he could give a tax break to data center developers and some of the wealthiest people in the country. His office has been in cahoots with some of the most notorious white supremacists in America. He's already brought disgrace to our state.
But I am so grateful to Georgians for investing the trust in me to represent Georgia in the Senate. I've stood up to the drug companies, to the big tech companies, and to the insurance companies who are denying us the care that we need when we need it. And I humbly ask for your continued support in this election.

The Power of Analytical Meditation - His Holiness the Dalai Lama shares how decades of analytical meditation gradually transformed his own emotions, until attachment and anger nearly disappeared. The key, he explains, is not prayer but investigation: examining different, even opposing views and making full use of our intelligence to train the mind. A special moment with our CeCe on the campaign trail in Sarasota.
History is watching. Let's use this moment to believe in something better, to heal our politics, and deliver for CeCe and our next generation a nation that reflects not just our greatness, but our goodness as well.
