We spend so much of our lives looking for freedom in the world of experiences. We seek it in moments of bliss, in spiritual insights, in the promise of a more peaceful tomorrow. But everything that appears also disappears. True freedom is not dependent on the changing scenery of life. It is the recognition of the silent openness in which all scenery comes and goes.
Sometimes the most radical movement in the spiritual journey is the willingness to stop. To stop reaching, stop measuring, stop comparing, and stop making this moment into a stepping stone towards a better one. In this stopping, something utterly simple reveals itself: life is already here, and you are not separate from it.
Join Amoda Maa and Kavi on YouTube live for the opening session of the 7-day retreat in New York this Tuesday October 20th.
This special livestream offers a taste of the retreat atmosphere, with meditation, discourse, and an opening orientation to the retreat container. Kavi will also be present as part of the retreat, holding the space alongside Amoda.
You are warmly invited to join us in this shared field of silence, presence, and inquiry.

There is no need to manufacture stillness. Even in the midst of thought, even while emotions are moving, even when uncertainty is present, the ground of being remains undisturbed. The challenge is not to create this stillness, but to cease overlooking it in our fascination with what comes and goes.
Before your name, your history, your opinions, your successes and failures, there is the undeniable fact of your existence. You are. This is not a philosophical concept to be understood. It is the most intimate reality of this moment, prior to everything you believe yourself to be.
There is a profound difference between responding to life and resisting life. When resistance falls away, we do not become passive. We become available to respond with greater intelligence, sensitivity, and clarity. We are no longer acting from the contracted position of a self at war with its experience.

You can meet what is happening, simply, without embellishing your experience with “I shouldn’t be feeling this” or “if only I could make this feeling go away, then I’d be free” or any other desire to change or fix the naked fact of your experience. Just be with it.
New Podcast:
The Radiance of Being | What Is Always Here.
In this bonus episode, recorded during a recent daylong gathering in Berkeley, Amoda explores how the constant movement of self-referencing creates an internal noise that reinforces the sense of separation and keeps us searching for peace and fulfillment in the content of experience.

The spiritual journey may appear to be full of twists and turns, layers of conditioning, and endless obstacles. Yet the recognition of that which is inherently free is profoundly simple. It is the softening of attention away from appearances and towards its own source.
