Interesting: When you choose the Siri voices under the Spoken Content settings, it uses the neural voice to read, but if under VoiceOver's Speech settings, then it uses the concatenated ones.

The goal of all tinkering men is to gradually accumulate an entire hardware store & electronics store in their home workshop Eventually they die. Their survivors have no idea what to do with all of this stuff, so they have a garage sale visited by tinkerers & the cycle continues

I just realized one way that an engineer's mind (or at least mine) differs from normal people. I often get impatient with instructions on how to use something. Just tell me how it works and I'll figure out how to use it.

I think I suffer from whatever this is called!
Is there a name for the feeling when you all you want out of life is to hunker down and eat pizza and watch movies but you also want to break new ground in your profession but you also want to quit society to live in the woods but you also want to go explore the world forever

Please share far and wide that there are no monoclonal antibody treatments available. SARS-2 has mutated to the point that our monoclonals no longer work. Our goal should be to not get COVID and avoid reinfections. Wear an N95 as SARS-2, FLU, and RSV are surging.
Today, FDA is announcing that bebtelovimab is not currently authorized for emergency use in any U.S. region because it is not expected to neutralize Omicron subvariants BQ.1 and BQ.1.1: fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-an…

Isn’t it great that being a weirdo in high school was bad and being normal was cool, but when you get older being weird is awesome and being normal is boring AF? Well *I* think it’s great. If you don’t, enjoy being normal. No offense.

Thread time. Here's the thing about @tesla. It's not a car company. Tesla is a company that has to make cars in order to sell its real product: Emissions Credits. Let me explain. Back in 2012, the EPA put out new, strident emissions standards for new vehicles fleetwide. 1/
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Regulatory Credits on account for a small percentage of Tesla Revenue. 2020: 6.2% 2021: 3.2% 2022: 2.7% As of FY Q3 2022 Credits were only $287m against profits of $3.3b twitter.com/FonsDK/status/… TSLA Q3 2022 IR Deck: shorturl.at/mow47

If an airline can spend this much effort ensuring they properly secure a musical instrument, why can't they figure out how to properly secure their passengers' wheelchairs?
My flight to DC was delayed for two hours-a delay that kept being extended, with no reason given. I asked. Turns out the crew were trying to load a priceless cello into the main cabin, and secure it as firmly as possible. It was taking a while. Good job @AirCanada. No sarcasm

I don't want to watch a five minute video when I could read the same information faster in an article.

For the past two years, Evan Ratliff (@ev_rat) has been following a woman around the internet. But Albertina Geller — or her face, at least — wasn't actually human. She was the product of artificial intelligence. 👇 businessinsider.com/artifici…

I struggled whether to post all this because it can devolve into dunking on her blindness skills, which isn't kind or productive. But she speaks as though for all of us, and sighted ppl find her terribly credible. That's what makes her keynoting AxeCon such a blow.

Ok folks. It’s time we talked about eels. I’m a geologist but I recently learnt about eels and… wow. Since then, I’ve been greeting strangers with ‘DO YOU KNOW ABOUT EELS?!’ Well, consider yourself a stranger in my path. Strap in. It’s a 🧵 1/so many

Whichever moron or group of morons in the music industry who decided around 2015 that all successful acts must have their voice auto-tuned and compressed to death should be forced to speak through a Stephen Hawking voice machine forever and banned from singing just in case.

When men refer to themselves as "alpha males", I hear that in the context of software, where alpha versions are unstable, missing important features, filled with flaws, and not fit for the public. – at Stavanger, Norway
