Interesting: When you choose the Siri voices under the Spoken Content settings, it uses the neural voice to read, but if under VoiceOver's Speech settings, then it uses the concatenated ones.

The goal of all tinkering men is to gradually accumulate an entire hardware store & electronics store in their home workshop Eventually they die. Their survivors have no idea what to do with all of this stuff, so they have a garage sale visited by tinkerers & the cycle continues

I just realized one way that an engineer's mind (or at least mine) differs from normal people. I often get impatient with instructions on how to use something. Just tell me how it works and I'll figure out how to use it.

I think I suffer from whatever this is called!
Is there a name for the feeling when you all you want out of life is to hunker down and eat pizza and watch movies but you also want to break new ground in your profession but you also want to quit society to live in the woods but you also want to go explore the world forever

Let's try this again. Was bored, so had ChatGPT write me this simple DTMF tone generator in Javascript, including speed controls and screen reader support. bestmidi.com/dtmf.htm

Wow! I have never had seven 500s in a monopoly game before. So does having too much monopoly money inevitably lead to a loss of sanity as often happens with real money? Guess I'll find out.

The Best Western we're avoiding a snowstorm in seemed just about empty yesterday so we had the breakfast room, pool, and workout room to ourselves. I've never used the workout room in a hotel before.
Today's TTS amusing and shocking screw-up is "2th" spoken as second. What!? That's supposed to be written 2nd, not 2 with TH after it. It was just an abbreviation in what I was reading, so not a human writer's mistake.
Please share far and wide that there are no monoclonal antibody treatments available. SARS-2 has mutated to the point that our monoclonals no longer work. Our goal should be to not get COVID and avoid reinfections. Wear an N95 as SARS-2, FLU, and RSV are surging.
Today, FDA is announcing that bebtelovimab is not currently authorized for emergency use in any U.S. region because it is not expected to neutralize Omicron subvariants BQ.1 and BQ.1.1: fda.gov/drugs/drug-safety-an…

Isn’t it great that being a weirdo in high school was bad and being normal was cool, but when you get older being weird is awesome and being normal is boring AF? Well *I* think it’s great. If you don’t, enjoy being normal. No offense.

Thread time. Here's the thing about @tesla. It's not a car company. Tesla is a company that has to make cars in order to sell its real product: Emissions Credits. Let me explain. Back in 2012, the EPA put out new, strident emissions standards for new vehicles fleetwide. 1/

Regulatory Credits on account for a small percentage of Tesla Revenue. 2020: 6.2% 2021: 3.2% 2022: 2.7% As of FY Q3 2022 Credits were only $287m against profits of $3.3b twitter.com/FonsDK/status/… TSLA Q3 2022 IR Deck: shorturl.at/mow47

Even better. Jayden didn't have a lot of pain. The roads were nice and straight without excessive bumpiness. Of course, he was also on pain killer.,
Our drive back home yesterday went way better than expected. CBD cat treats calmed my cat so much better than Meclizine (non-drowsy dramamine.) Guess Aerial is more angry than sick when in a vehicle.

If an airline can spend this much effort ensuring they properly secure a musical instrument, why can't they figure out how to properly secure their passengers' wheelchairs?
My flight to DC was delayed for two hours-a delay that kept being extended, with no reason given. I asked. Turns out the crew were trying to load a priceless cello into the main cabin, and secure it as firmly as possible. It was taking a while. Good job @AirCanada. No sarcasm

I don't want to watch a five minute video when I could read the same information faster in an article.
what is your most benign unpopular opinion? i don’t mean like “the earth is flat” type of unpopular opinion, i mean like “I think golden retrievers are annoying” unpopular opinion

My son's surgery went well, and he is recovering very quickly. I am totally amazed how nice and helpful every single person at Intermountain Primary Children's Hospital was.
