i might be a drama queen, but at least i’m not completely disconnected from market reality.
you know who else ignores lightning, peter?
merchants, exchanges, swapping services, serious privacy advocates, millions of bitcoiners, and liquidity itself.
5.2k btc locked, stagnant for the last 4 years.
the number of nodes hasn’t grown either.
you can’t find a single lightning company that’s profitable, they all live off the vc funding they raised and currently offer fees much higher than on-chain transactions to break even.
there is more monthly economic activity on litecoin, a carbon copy of bitcoin that’s well accepted for payments.
but yes, you should definitely use lightning to deal with forced closings when the fees are high and reveal information about the wallet that you’re using when you post an invoice.
run your own node, lose a lot of bitcoin in transaction fees, still get failed payments.
