What Investors are Most Favorable for Retail?
Using retail ROI data from CryptoRank, we compiled a ranking of VCs and corporations with the highest average ROI for retail investors who buy after private rounds.
Here are the ones who are less likely to dump on you the second you ape in:
🥇 HongShan - 122x
🥈 @strobefund - 51x
🥉 @Rockaway_X - 49x
4. Blockchange Ventures - 42x
5. @Consensys - 41x
Note that even though @a16zcrypto isn’t ranked that high here, it’s still one of the most active VCs by deal count in this selection and still delivers solid average ROI for retail.
Use this data next time you invest as an additional signal, but never rely solely on a project’s backers.

2025 Crypto Fundraising Recap is out
VC money is back in Web3, but the rules of the game have changed.
In 2025, total capital deployed nearly returned to 2022 levels, yet deal count dropped sharply. The era of spray-and-pray is over. Investors now focus on revenue, unit economics, and proven product–market fit, while trust-based fundraising models continue to fade.
In this recap, we break down:
- Why fewer deals now absorb more capital
- Why 88% of tokens trade below TGE
- How IDOs lost relevance — and what still works
- The Web3 niches that consistently attract VC money
- Why CeFi and late-stage projects dominate
- What founders must prioritize heading into 2026

MetaDAO Launches Deliver the Highest Average ROI
@MetaDAOProject has recently gained traction and become one of the most popular launchpads in the market, thanks to its new fundraising model, which includes elements of futarchy and STAMP.
With a focus on Internet Capital Markets, MetaDAO launches don’t deliver 100x returns, but they do deliver a stable average of 4-5x.
Moreover, interest in its launches appears strong, with average commitments of around $50M.
However, the last two launches have delivered negative ROI and are now trading slightly below breakeven, with one of them reaching an ATH ROI of just 0.99x.
What are your thoughts on MetaDAO’s attempt to bring ownership to crypto?

2025 Fundraising Was Higher Than 2023-2024 Combined
Even though 2025 saw far fewer deals than 2024 or early 2023, it still managed to outperform those two years combined, reaching almost $35B.
In prior years, you could often track where the market was heading by the frequency of venture deals across sectors.
Now the signal is different. There are fewer rounds in major narratives, but a smaller group of funds is writing bigger checks into category leaders.
This view is supported by examples like @Kalshi and @Polymarket, which lead the prediction markets narrative, raising $1B and $2B, respectively.
At the same time, attention is shifting to projects with real revenue and clear business execution, not complex tech with unclear monetization models.
With this in mind, going into 2026 the focus should stay on a smaller set of projects that lead their narratives on measurable metrics, backed by fewer but larger VC rounds.

Only 12% of 2025 Token Sales Are Still Profitable
In 2025, 533 public token sales took place. Some managed to raise millions in seconds, but only 63 tokens are still trading above their sale price.
The biggest sale, $PUMP, raised $600M. It delivered 2.19x at ATH, but now trades below the IDO price, with ROI around 0.48x.
Even though $PUMP led the narrative and captured massive attention, the retroactive EV looks weak. The same applies to $MON (current ROI 0.93x) and $XPL (0.47x).
However, 58% of sales still delivered a solid 3–6x pop on decent size allocations right at the start of trading, but not in the long term.
The most profitable sale for investors in 2025 was $MYX, with ATH ROI at 2103x, and it is still trading around 385x above the sale price today.
Overall, weak market conditions and shrinking attention spans turned token-sale investing into hard mode this year, pushing participants toward shorter holding periods and faster profit-taking.
Did you profit from token sales this year?
