I was asked today what suprises me the most about working in mental health. Hard to name just one, but a prominent one is how it's still framed/viewed as an individual issue when community, social, and environmental factors play such critical roles in wellness and unwellness.

Great catching up with CTV's Kevin Green on one of my regular transit commutes to City Hall. I ride the bus and train regularly because I want to experience our system the same way thousands of Calgarians do every day. It keeps me grounded and helps shape better decisions.

Does it seem like there's been an annoyingly persistent north-northwest wind in Calgary so far this month? That's because there has been. In June, as of today: - Winds have blown out of the N/NW over 45% of the time - Monthly average wind speed is 19 km/h so far - Winds have been 37 km/h or greater about 13% of the time so far (that is drafty!) Compare the observed wind rose on the left with the average wind rose on the right...normally we have far more wind from the west and southeast in June. That's what happens when you have low pressure to the east, high pressure to the west, and a northwest flow in between! #yyc #abstorm

All eyes are on Calgary right now. Thanks to everyone, front of house and back of house, who supported our 2026 Celebration of the Arts last night. No matter who you are, where you're from, or who you love, you belong here. Our cultural sector fuels jobs, attracts talent, and builds community. Let's keep backing the people who make it happen.

With everything becoming so artificial, it's never been so important to embrace the REAL. Step away from the screen and: - Hang out with real people - Learn things, read books - Practice existing talents and learn new skills - Move your body - Look out at the real world - Notice things...sounds, smells, tastes Be present! Embrace the real.

We’ve lost a legend. Yesterday at our CBC Olympics event I was asked who I’d want to co-host with at the Games from our CBC shows. I said Moira and David from Schitt’s Creek. Catherine O’Hara was brilliant. And will be so missed. cbc.ca/news/entertainment/li…

Jan. 10, 9:00 a.m. update. 🚨On Jan. 9, our water use was 504 ML which is 19 ML above the sustainable level of 485 ML. We are still experiencing a strain on our distribution system, limiting our ability to produce treated water, refill underground reservoirs overnight and move water to everyone. We continue to ask Calgarians & businesses to take action to reduce their water consumption. 🚧 Construction update ▪️Crews have begun slowly filling the repaired pipe with water and are in the process of restoring service which is a multi-day process involving filling the pipe, testing the water and making sure the system is stable. ▪️As of this morning, the first phase of filling the pipe is approximately 75 per cent complete. ➡️ Road Closures ▪️A single eastbound lane on 16 Ave N.W. east of Sarcee Trail is open, along with access to 16th Avenue from Sarcee Trail. ▪️Work to repair the roadway has begun, paving will begin over the weekend. Westbound lanes remain closed for repairs. We still need to continue to save water. Small actions make a big difference. Find out how to save water and stay informed at calgary.ca/watermainbreak.
