I was asked today what suprises me the most about working in mental health.
Hard to name just one, but a prominent one is how it's still framed/viewed as an individual issue when community, social, and environmental factors play such critical roles in wellness and unwellness.

Great catching up with CTV's Kevin Green on one of my regular transit commutes to City Hall. I ride the bus and train regularly because I want to experience our system the same way thousands of Calgarians do every day. It keeps me grounded and helps shape better decisions.

Does it seem like there's been an annoyingly persistent north-northwest wind in Calgary so far this month?
That's because there has been.
In June, as of today:
- Winds have blown out of the N/NW over 45% of the time
- Monthly average wind speed is 19 km/h so far
- Winds have been 37 km/h or greater about 13% of the time so far (that is drafty!)
Compare the observed wind rose on the left with the average wind rose on the right...normally we have far more wind from the west and southeast in June.
That's what happens when you have low pressure to the east, high pressure to the west, and a northwest flow in between! #yyc #abstorm

All eyes are on Calgary right now. Thanks to everyone, front of house and back of house, who supported our 2026 Celebration of the Arts last night. No matter who you are, where you're from, or who you love, you belong here. Our cultural sector fuels jobs, attracts talent, and builds community. Let's keep backing the people who make it happen.

The Calgary Expo parade-turned-party was a blast! Many thanks to everyone who got their amazing costumes together and braved the cold at BMO Centre.

With everything becoming so artificial, it's never been so important to embrace the REAL.
Step away from the screen and:
- Hang out with real people
- Learn things, read books
- Practice existing talents and learn new skills
- Move your body
- Look out at the real world
- Notice things...sounds, smells, tastes
Be present! Embrace the real.

On my way to work with a snow update. Plenty is expected through the morning. Crews are plowing major routes and monitoring bridges and hills. Transit snow detours will be in effect for the morning commute.

We’ve lost a legend.
Yesterday at our CBC Olympics event I was asked who I’d want to co-host with at the Games from our CBC shows. I said Moira and David from Schitt’s Creek.
Catherine O’Hara was brilliant. And will be so missed. cbc.ca/news/entertainment/li…

CURLING 🥌 PRIDE
It’s not often an athlete or team is this dominant is universally loved and celebrated
Bruce Mouat is the exception. He’s living authentically on and off the ice. Openly gay. Inspiring others. And eyeing Olympic curling gold
