'MISTBORN' 2.0 Screenplay UPDATE:
It is now at 10%!
However, no new pages have been written. He's instead sending Apple detailed notes on how they should revise.
After that, he will:
• Fly out next to meet with Apple.
• Then the actual rewrite starts after that.

Brandon has officially started work on the 'MISTBORN' 2.0 screenplay. This will be his primary work for the next several weeks.
When asked if the 'SKYWARD' TV Series could continue beyond where the book series ends, Brandon said it potentially could if people like the series enough.

Because Shallan's ethnicity does not perfectly exist in real life, Brandon said he will allow the possibility of her being played by a Caucasian actress.
Adolin, Renarin, etc., will remain Asian, with likely Japanese-American actors playing the parts according to Brandon.

Brandon's ideal adaptations for both 'TRESS OF THE EMERALD SEA' and 'YUMI AND THE NIGHTMARE PAINTER' would be animated features.
Though getting producers to agree to make these is far more difficult due to the lack of popularity/sales compared to Mistborn and Stormlight.

Brandon hopes that the second Cosmere film will be an adaptation of 'THE EMPEROR'S SOUL', allowing it to showcase the many flavors of the Cosmere.
He envisions the film having a prestige quality and would likely release it as an Apple TV+ streaming original.

Vin will likely be aged up in the 'MISTBORN' film so as not to make her relationship with Elend have an age gap like in the book.
Brandon stated the '90s were full of stories that had the "fairy tale 16-year-old girl" trope, and that he no longer wants to have that in his story.

As a reminder, per the news about the 8-10 episodes of 'THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVE' series.
Some side characters and events that get major page time in the books won't get the same treatment in the show. The focus will be on Kaladin, Shallan, and Dalinar.
Same goes for 'MISTBORN'.

'THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVE' series will adapt one book per season, according to Brandon.
Each season will be 8-10 episodes, depending on budget, with likely 1-hour-long episodes.
Brandon will write all of Kaladin's scenes and will leave Shallan and Dalinar to the other co-writer.

‘THE STORMLIGHT ARCHIVE’ will very likely have its Season Two scripts written and complete by the time Season One begins filming, according to Brandon.
He also confirmed that Season One will be fully written before filming. He told the producers that this is his requirement.

Janci Patterson, co-author of 'Skyward Flight' and the sequel 'Riftwake' book series, may be added to the writers' room of the 'SKYWARD' TV series.
This will depend on many factors, like her schedule.
Brandon noted that Janci knows Skyward the best outside of Dragonsteel.

Brandon says he thinks it's "inevitable" that Cosmere video games will be made.
He says that he has had plenty of interest from "interesting parties who make good games."
He notes that the Cosmere films likely need to "make more progress" before any games can be made.

The producers for the 'SKYWARD' series are currently pitching the pilot episode and have been in communication with Brandon recently.
Brandon joked that while he is not writing the series, Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen will "save him a scene" to write in the pilot.

Due to the lack of a complete treatment that wasn't "reliable” and a full-season teleplay on Amazon’s ‘THE WHEEL OF TIME’, Brandon now has a personal requirement that all screenplays must be complete before filming.
‘MISTBORN’ and ‘STORMLIGHT’ will likely follow the same rule.
