Have you ever in your life read such verbal diarrhea and false equivalencies to try to find a justifiable pretext for cheating? Tribal loyalties does stupid things to us sometimes, Guardiola’s legacy is tainted Guillem no matter what Brad Pitt did in a movie lol
I watched the F1 film with Brad Pitt the other day, and there’s a moment where his character asks to add something to the car that isn’t really in the rules. The FIA punishes it, but the team can still race with the earlier car. It made me think.
In F1, the best teams live at the edge of the regulations. Sometimes the FIA allows what they’ve found, and sometimes it says that goes too far. Occasionally the rules are rewritten afterwards.
Now, City. I’m not defending them. A commission found they entered into sham agreements and broke the spending limits. A sham is an arrangement that isn’t what it claims to be, so that’s a different thing from using a gap nobody had spotted.
City deny it and will appeal. But I find it useful to ask/reflect on how people inside the club see it.
From their point of view, PERHAPS they believe they were doing what elite competitors do: looking at the rules, finding the limits, challenging interpretations and moving faster than the regulatory system.
From the outside, you might look at that and say, “That’s cheating.” From inside the organisation, they might say, “We found something nobody had thought of.”
If you believe you’ve found a way to bring money in, more or less within the rules (and the commission said it was not in the rules and it was cheating), you might tell yourself you’re just being a sharp competitor.
We are all asking “did City cheat?”. But I find this question interesting too: “how did City come to believe they weren’t?”
And understanding a mindset, or trying to, isn’t excusing it.

Manchester City were found guilty of 114 out of 115 charges by an independent commission. The comparison made is not in the same ball park to the level of rule breaking Man City have committed.

This is how I imagine an innocent party with irrefutable evidence proving their innocence would act.
BREAKING: The UAE is warning British Prime Minister Andy Burnham it will pull billions of pounds of investment the Government was seeking for a hi-tech hub between Oxford and Cambridge, billed as the UK’s answer to Silicon Valley, in retaliation for the guilty verdict against #ManCity.

This is a hammer blow to Man City’s narrative that the payments to its sponsors were not from ADUG but from the CPC.
If Man City had called an exec from Etihad as a witness to support their defence argument of the CPC explanation, they would have been torn apart on the stand.

#NFFC looking for new starting GK before end of the window and trying for Palace keeper.
Started v well last season on the first day, and we know what happened.
One game gone, 37 to go.

With our strength at number 10 in particular, is it likely that OG uses the bench much more this season than he did at CPFC?
Impact subs of high quality could be a real weapon for us IMO.

TAIWO! ❤️😢
That was a lovely send off.
(Glad they didn’t drop him or the transfer may have been off!!)
So…if we’re saying that McAtee is going to ‘play deeper’, and he is a 10, then are we saying he’s being converted to an 8?

Looking forward and excited about new signings, but REALLY want that Neco new contract announcement asap.

Don’t think the Lucas Bergvall deal will progress at the moment. Newcastle have been offered the player but are not interested at the current asking price.
Things can change, as ever, but that’s where things stand today.
They’ve got other deals lined up and the focus is on those #nufc
Arthur Féry…
Nepo baby?
Just a small thing…he still had to actually stand on court and hit the shots, do the intensive training etc.
His dad is rich, sure, but he’s not the one playing ELITE level sport is he?
I was enjoying the @USMNT energy and momentum, but for the good of football I’m now fully #TeamBelgium
