In 2012, Deadmau5 got a random message from a 17-year-old boy who wrote and provided vocals to an unreleased song. Deadmau5 decided to react to it on stream, was absolutely blown away, and instantly signed the kid.
The song was eventually released and is one of deadmau5’s biggest hits to this day.

Founders should have two decks:
1: A short 10-slide deck you send in advance of a first call with an investor.
2: A longer 20-slide deck you send after your first call if the investor is qualified.
Longer deck should include more detailed financial projections.

VCs, you should be using investor updates as your monthly opportunity to serve your founders, NOT as an opportunity to "monitor your investment".
Find 1 thing in that update that you can respond to with true value and support.

One thing I got a lot as a founder and hear from founders often today is the pressure they feel from investors to "find a Co-founder".
