Thank you to these amazing women who also spoke for those who couldn't. What is more disturbing is how much of this happens everywhere (e.g. In South America) and is not publicly exposed. I hope this serves as a wake up call to our scientific community

This is utterly shocking. Admiration for these women for speaking out. These (often known) acts need calling out by everyone to end this toxic behaviour. Listen to people, enable safe spaces for people to speak and report abuse, and act as an ally. buzzfeednews.com/article/nis…

It was a sad day when I realised that the thing that concerns me most when I'm heading out for fieldwork is not potentially venemous/dangerous animals or whatever, but men and the harassment I may have to deal with.

I'm so proud of the women who joined me in speaking out about their experiences of sexual harassment and sexual assault. So many women are survivors, and it holds women in the sciences back. #MeToo #STEMToo #WomenInSTEM @ksinacore @Tana_TropicsGal @MegCrofoot @eddyer96

I’ve withdrawn my presentation for @theAGU as a protest for the abusive fees for online attendants. I can’t finally attend in-person, so I’d have to pay $555 just to submit an (invited) presentation and watch some talks online.

By the way, it was ten years ago to this day I was sexually assaulted at the @theAGU meeting in San Francisco by a @Smithsonian scientist. Institutions must finally #BelieveSurvivors so no other woman feels she has no choice but stay silent for so long again. #JustLetMeDoScience

Microplastics are ubiquitous & tackling the issues associated with this pollutant are of global concern. @meg_geographer's new PhD project aims to learn how saltmarshes - known for amassing anthropogenic pollutants - store & interact with these plastics. ow.ly/P4FK50GR7X0

as someone who spends every day looking at how pharmaceuticals interact with microbes in freshwater, it's so interesting to also read about how larger organisms are affected! spoiler: finding so much of these chemicals in ecosystems isn't good news for their inhabitants 🦐🐌🦟
My report on pharmaceuticals in freshwater was published yesterday! Did you know that ibuprofen is found above suggested environmentally safe concentrations in 62% to 84% of the time in British rivers? cdn.buglife.org.uk/2021/09/P…

Did you know that medicines are found in our freshwaters? A new Buglife report launched yesterday finds common pharmaceuticals are widespread in British rivers. buglife.org.uk/news/medical-… 1/4

The proofed version of our new pond and ditch GHG paper in @GlobalChangeBio is now online and open access. We meaured annual emissions from 16 waterbodies, and took single "snapshot" measurements from 160 waterbodies. What did we find...? (1/5) onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
