If I was a self-aware lefty (contradiction in terms, I know) I'd be feeling like a bit of a twat right now. Everything they've ever supported has been totally self-defeating. They supported the climate scam and now they can't afford electricity. They supported laws punishing landlords and now they can't find a place to rent. They supported high taxes and now there aren't any jobs. They supported open borders and now there's no casual work for them or their kids. They supported welfare increases so now there's no money to maintain basic amenities. They supported "refugees" and now rapey Afghans being moved into their street. They supported trans rights and now their daughters have to share changing rooms with total perverts. And worse still, because they've built their entire personality around their ideology, and believe themselves to be morally and intellectually superior, they have to suck it up and pretend they like the way they've soiled their own nest. They now have to pretend that the overcrowded urban slums they have to live in are "vibrant" and "enriched by diversity" even though he next door neighbour on one side is an Albanian heroin dealer, and the other side is a family of Roma benefit monkeys who keep breaking off your car wing mirrors. This is why lefties live in a bubble of delusion because if they actually had to face up to the fact that the deteriorating world around them is exactly what they keep voting for, their tiny little brains would capsize.

Some time between now and 2034, it is not implausible that Britain's electricity costs will be sky high, even from where they are now (if the power grid is even still functioning). We'll then have an unprecedented round of austerity because Britain will be flat broke. Current spending simply isn't sustainable. That will necessarily call for major welfare cuts, as well as a major reduction in state capacity. This is on top of mass unemployment because any job creator will simply give up the ghost, and we will see a mass exodus of investment capital. You can't tax your way to prosperity. With that goes a housing crash, mass negative equity, and implosion of NHS services, mass defaults on consumer debt, alongside food and fuel shortages. We can also expect to see crime and disorder at levels never seen before in Britain. Voluntary apartheid is not very far off. Soon after, everywhere looks as squalid as Birmingham at the peak of the bin strikes, and we will see street benches and crash rails removed for the scrap metal value. All infrastructure projects will be halted due to labour costs and cost of raw materials. Expect also universities to declare themselves bankrupt (it's not all bad). On the whole, it's going to be worse than any Briton has ever seen it. Worse because there isn't even a common demos. Just a mass of tribes competing for resources, which means open gang warfare on the streets. This, I think, is now unavoidable. A halfway competent right wing government could avert it, though it would not be smooth sailing. But we are not capable of producing a halfway competent right wing party, much less win an election. The voting public seem to prefer handouts over a functioning country, and seems to think the Easter Bunny pays for it all. Britain is on track to get exactly what it deserves. It will be some small compensation that we'll see most of the political class (along with the judges) getting what they deserve too - but that will be akin with shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted.
