A customs manifest can now keep a container off the ship at Malaysian ports, Hapag-Lloyd has told shippers. Its 48-hour cut-off before arrival is the carrier's own; the statute says 24 hours before departure @HapagLloydAG has told customers that Malaysian port operators can refuse to load a container without a complete K5 or K6 customs manifest, with shipping instructions due at least 48 hours before vessel ETA. The filing deadline in the Customs Act is 24 hours before departure and has stood since 2020; Customs has posted no notice on its announcements pages, and five other major carriers' Malaysia pages say nothing. Hapag-Lloyd's 48-hour cut-off is one of three carrier no-load deadlines announced or in force since 30 September, alongside Maersk's for Australia, New Zealand and the EU. container-mag.com/article/a-… #containershipping

Software before steel: YILPORT’s Gebze gain is a rehearsal for automation YILPORT tuned its yard-dispatch software on Gebze's 31 manual cranes before the automated fleet arrives at Liscont, Leixões and Gävle. Executives at YILPORT and @KalerisOfficial explain how the figure was measured, why the vendor quotes a 10% floor, and who controls the crane once it drives itself. A 21% jump in yard-crane moves per hour at Gebze, on the same 31 cranes, is the headline figure but the more important result is what the deployment is setting up at three European terminals. #ports #containershipping #TOS #yilport container-mag.com/article/so…

CM Reader+ subscriber content: Monthly Market Analytics Report - September 2026 In September carriers brought capacity back to the Red Sea while ordering more of it for the end of the decade. On 14 September Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd moved four more Gemini services to Suez, including their first Asia–North Europe string, in the week Houthi forces reached Perim Island on the Bab el-Mandeb. Asia–Europe rates fell as the shorter rotations released ships: Drewry’s Shanghai–Genoa dropped 21.2% in four weeks, while withdrawn capacity held Shanghai–Los Angeles 15.0% higher. WTCP Intelligence’s market-balance index fell from 66.5 to 54.3, and its price-blind network-stress index held near neutral. The orderbook reached 45% of the fleet, a ratio last seen in late 2008, after Maersk confirmed 26 LNG dual-fuel ships of 18,600 teu. Hapag-Lloyd raised its 2026 EBITDA guidance to as much as US$4.4bn on the spot rates the Suez return is eroding. The August port volumes released in September counted the typhoon season: Shanghai fell 14.7% to 4.28m teu while Xiamen grew 12.1%, and the backlog moved to Southeast Asia. Washington announced a two-month extension of its China port-fee and crane-duty truce to 10 January 2027, but without a Federal Register notice the suspension still lapses on 9 November. container-mag.com/report/mar… Quarterly Market Analytics Report — Q3 2026 Q3 2026 separated the two chokepoints in carriers' pricing: the Red Sea came back service by service while Hormuz stayed shut. Freight composites ended the quarter flat as Asia–Europe and transpacific rates moved US$4,003 apart, carriers raised guidance on Cape distances and kept ordering, and port growth moved from the Chinese origin gateways to the relay hubs. container-mag.com/report/mar…
