Disturbing news from my home city in the early hours of this morning. Thoughts and prayers for the full and swift recovery of the officer involved.
Hope suspects are caught swiftly and sent down for a very long time.
A police officer is being treated in hospital after being shot in Nottingham city centre.

Whilst probably a breach of the standards in respect to Authority Respect & Courtesy.
Seems very harsh in the circs outlined to Dismiss.
A @nottspolice officer who used discriminatory language towards a detainee in custody has been dismissed at a misconduct hearing.
Our independent investigation came after concerns were raised over his treatment of the man.

Is this the result the public would want to see in the circumstances?
After 20yrs service the effect on this officers pension & family in my view far outweighs the offence.
What do you think?

Great Article By WMP Conduct Lead on the constant tinkering with Police conduct regime over the last few years. The Home Office needs to take stock and sit down with all parties & actually listen to the evidence not just react with political knee jerks

🚨This is what “doing it by the book” gets you these days in the Police .
Body-worn video shows Nigel Lawrence walking into busy traffic on Fratton Road, distressed, foaming at the mouth and speaking incoherently.
He opens the rear door of a police car that already has a suspect inside.
Officers handcuff him, search him, find drugs, and arrest him.
Concerned about his condition they put him in a van to take him straight to hospital.
When he deteriorates they pull over, start first aid themselves, and call paramedics.
He dies in hospital the next evening.
The officers did what the situation required: restrained a clearly unwell man in traffic, removed drugs, prioritised getting him medical help, and administered emergency care when needed.
Yet four constables are now under IOPC investigation for gross misconduct over the search, arrest, handcuffs, detention and care provided.
Utter madness.

Only took you 2 years to make that decision after a court cleared him. Were you waiting to hide behind the law change to save face with the family?
This decision should have been made 2 yrs ago! Inexcusable
We have decided the @metpoliceuk officer who fatally shot Chris Kaba will not face a gross misconduct hearing. The decision follows the Government's recent law change to the use of force test in misconduct cases.

That’s 2 years sat on someone’s desk! A complete failure of accountability! A complete failure in responsibility! A complete failure to follow the regulations!
If it were cops there would be consequences, but with @policeconduct someone may get promoted!

Whilst Burnham was right to withdraw early release for sexual/violent offenders, there should also be provision to refuse early release for specific cases where there is high risk and/or significant public outrage due to the crimes/perpetrators.
🚨 NEW: The full statement from PC Andrew Harper's widow accusing Andy Burnham of "betrayal" by not excluding his killers from the early release scheme
"This is disgusting. I am beyond appalled and bristling with anger to hear that Andrew’s killers are soon to be free to roam the streets.
"What abhorrent message does this send? How dare Ministers say the killing of a police officer is not enough of a ‘sickening crime’ that deserves the stiffest of punishments.
"The level of disrespect the Government are showing to Andrew and other victims – and to their loved ones such as me – is beyond contempt.
"The killers of Andrew have shown no remorse... they robbed us of our future. They are vile criminals, and they should remain in jail.
"To release them early from their already pitiful sentences is an affront to justice. The Government and the justice system have not just let me down... they have added insult to injury. They are meant to be on our side.
"This is an utter betrayal - and it's one I will not be able to forgive or forget"
Police misconduct processes to be reviewed.
They need to listen to practitioners & experts in the field like @PFEW_HQ Reps who have been sidelined and ignored for years despite the great suggestions & evidence they have consistently brought to the table!

So @ukhomeoffice decided to ignore the pay review body recommendation of a 3.9% pay award and instead awarded us 3.5%. Less than MP’s 5% and firefighters 3.8%. The pay review body system is broken & we need pay negotiation rights & binding arbitration. #CoppedEnough
Today the 2026 Police Remuneration Review Body independent report on the pay of police officers in England and Wales was published. You can find the #PRRB report and details of the Government’s response here:
