"Alright everybody, today we'll be learning about the stafford beer viable system model. Can you take a moment to think about how this diagram applies to your team?"

I think there's a barbarism to driving. It's incredibly dangerous and socially necessary when something so dangerous shouldn't be. But I also sympathize with the libertarians who are against drivers licenses. I don't really believe they help prevent driving deaths

Contrary to left-reactionary opinion and revisionism: The American Revolution
I鈥檝e asked this before but is there any historical event that is like the Opposite of 9/11. Like something so good that happened that it changed the world forever

I think people want movies that tells you what to think. "You Can See Everything" is good art because it doesn't do that and instead it invites you to think for yourself
I've seen people online say that "You Can See Everything" is irresponsible because it allows for some ambiguity around the guilt of Holmes. I don't think this is fair. If the film was just about telling you how guilty Holmes is, it would be much less interesting.

There's no point in coping. The AI will be better than you at coping within 6 months.

I use AI for work and so do all my coworkers at a big corporation. Neither I nor anyone I know who uses it for work is adamant it's a garbage scam. I was skeptical a year or two ago, but not anymore.
Everyone I know who is forced to use AI for work is very adamant that it is garbage and a scam. Probably more than everyone who doesn鈥檛 use it

I don't know how good AI or if it will kill us all or what the limitations of LLMs will turn out to be, but I do think that at least they're going to be a part of pretty much all white collar work for the foreseeable future. I am convinced it's a truly transformative technology

It's good enough to be extremely disruptive and I wouldn't bet on it being a bubble. It won't be long until everyone is using it all the time. I have been already because I'm a programmer and I've had to. But the rest of you who work in other knowledge fields will be too, soon.

Danny Jacobs, one of my best friends on Earth and a generational intellect, passed yesterday. Everything in the world is grimmer than it was two days ago. If you鈥檙e in NYC, I鈥檒l be broadcasting on 89.9FM and wkcr.org tonight at 9pm for him.

The main problem with AI is that it has, and may continue to, put people out of work. All the stuff about data center water use and so on is confusing the point. If people cared so much about that they'd complain about the water usage of YouTube and AWS and so on.

I'm worried about AI too. I just wondering why we're collectively incapable of talking about things in a clear-headed way

To be clear I think there are other problems like students using it to cheat and people getting dumber do to offloading their thinking to it. I'm just saying, we don't talk about this clearly

The AI features in my phone include the "computer, enhance!" ability from CSI. It just makes up details but it's still funny they made that kinda real
