Africa Energy Week's on in Cape Town. It's all about the money. Companies are pitching oil and gas projects to investors - billions on the table.
Meanwhile, 600 million people in sub-Saharan Africa still don't have power. A short thread🧵 #AEW2026

Since Wicknell’s death, the following has become apparent:
1. False prophets and their doctrines of devils and demons have been exposed.
2. The supposed philanthropy has been revealed as hollow. He is mourned mainly by the elite whose influence he strengthened, yet he left nothing of lasting value for the poor.
3. The public has been largely unrestrained in its commentary. No propaganda campaign has succeeded in suppressing deeply held views.
4. No business activity had been disrupted. The stock market has shown no reaction at all, and no statements have been issued by any businesses he is said to have controlled.
5. Three heads of state have expressed their grief, while reports suggest that another has “gone berserk”. That, evidently, was where his influence lay.
6. The comprador bourgeoisie is in a state of panic, reflected in the bravado of declarations such as, “We shall continue flying choppers.” It is all a façade.
7. In truth, people had had enough.

Chitungwiza leg of @ShokoFestival used to be the outreach program, small and in a tent. Now its the main thing. That field might become too small. – at Harare, Zimbabwe

Wicknell Chivayo’s sudden death has left behind unanswered questions, unfinished deals and a controversial legacy.
From prison to private jets and millions in giveaways, how did Sir Wicknell build his empire?
And was the crash simply a tragic accident?
Let us know what you think in the comments.

Gotta respect the Ghetto President. He was offered a car at the Deny J podcast and instead of writing a long statement begging he released his album Tête-à-Tête just a few days after the interview speaking out against corruption, bootlicking and oppression. GOAT for a reason. What a guy!
Wicky had even captured Ruto. Ah yah he was a hard working Zvigananda that one.
I am deeply saddened by the tragic passing of my friend, Wicknell Chivayo, together with his wife, Lucy Muteke, and the other lives lost in the helicopter crash in Zimbabwe. Their sudden departure is a painful loss to their families, friends and all who knew them.
Wicknell was a dear friend whose warmth touched many people. I will remember him for his friendship, his energy and his deep conviction in the possibilities of our continent.
I convey my deepest condolences to the families of all those who lost their lives, to President Mnangagwa, the people of Zimbabwe and everyone mourning this tragic loss. May God grant Wicknell, Lucy and all those who perished eternal rest.

We are all going to die but we are not all going to antagonise millions of vulnerable people in the process. I’m not encouraging anyone to celebrate but this should be learning moment. Live how you want to be remembered .

To the legends who turned a crazy idea into a cultural institution - @ComradeFatsooo & Outspoken
You didn’t just start Shoko Festival , you gave Zimbabwe a yearly excuse to make noise, create magic, and pretend the weekend has no curfew. 🫶

The sad thing about Mapfumo is he held on for so long only to fold and then get nothing for it. Terrible terrible miscalculations.
Shout out to you for your creative grind and vision, my G 😎
I want to see festivals empower creatives. Promoters and sponsors can handle business but let creatives curate the show for you. @ShokoFestival you’re peerless ❤️

My favourite moments at Shoko Festival :
1. Mugaratia was performing and the crowd started singing Dial Delivery and he had no choice but to play it at both MashUp and Peace in the hood
2. Turn It Up Suhn. (Felt bad for Probeatz) But he handled that so well though
