The COMPACT Toolbox is Live!
The COMPACT programme is a partnership between PARI, @SALGA_Gov and @Act4Integrity. In 2026 the partnership culminated in the development of a toolbox which comprises a set of practical, accessible, and actionable tools that municipal stakeholders, CSOs and communities can use to improve planning, participation, and oversight in local government in South Africa.

The COMPACT Community Participation Index is a developmental tool to help officials, councillors, ward committees, CSOs/CBOs & communities better measure community participation. The purpose of the index is to deepen participatory democracy @SALGA_Gov @PARInstitute
