Exciting work from my group! Visit us #CogSci26 - this work show something exciting about human AI collaboration- sometimes it is good for humans and AI to be misaligned!! More on the poster …
🤖🗣️ Will a hybrid society of humans and AI be more creative than either alone? What happens when their cognitive strategies are misaligned, and does that make the collective more intelligent, or does it break down?
🧠 Check out our paper #CogSci26 1/
Join us at Cornell! Our new lab is hiring a lab manager, PhD students, and postdocs with a focus on computational music cognition. Be part of a growing, dynamic research group. Please spread the word, and contact @norijacoby if you are in #ICMPC_SaoPaulo or #CogSci2025.
The @CO3lab at @Cornell is hiring a lab manager.
Focus: Computational music cognition
Skills: Python, R, machine learning, strong work ethic
Role: Run global experiments, develop experiments, grow as a researcher.
I’ll be at #ICMPC_SaoPaulo and #CogSci2025—feel free to reach out!
We are recruiting postdocs! Want to grow your own social networks to study creativity, cultural evolution & decision-making? We are hiring a funded postdoc at Cornell in collaboration with UC Davis, CUNY, & Princeton. Apply here: academicjobsonline.org/ajo/j…
We are recruiting two postdoctoral scholars for a research project in human collective intelligence and creativity at UC Davis and Cornell. Joint project with @enfascination,@norijacoby,@daltonconley, & Ofer Tchernichovski. Please forward this thread to relevant people. 1/n
We are recruiting PhD students at @Cornell ! Our research covers a diverse range of topics, including perception and internal representations, cultural evolution, large-scale online experiments, cross-cultural studies, and computational music cognition. Please spread the word!
🚨 News! The first postdoc position for an NSF-funded interdisciplinary project is open! Focus areas: collective decision-making, intelligence, or creativity. Apply: recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF06705. More positions at @Cornell soon. Please share/retweet among your colleagues!

If you are at #CogSci2024 come to @Eline__VG presenting joint work with @norijacoby using Gibbs Sampling with People to understand visual aesthetics. 10:30 - 12:00 in Perception 3 session.
Excited to attend my first @cogsci_soc this week! If you are into perception, aesthetics, individual differences, context effects, Bayesian, open source programming, and more find me at #CogSci2024! On Saturday (Perception3) I present work I did with @norijacoby at the @MPI_ae ⬇️

To explore the sentences we sampled using SP, we also use UMAP to compute sentence embeddings. We find that regions of this sentence embedding scatter plot correspond to specific conversational topics and tones, such as the correspondence of (vi) to a more relational tone. 6/
With 1,339 human participants, 33,370 human judgments, and 29,900 GPT queries, we demonstrate how combining ideas from machine learning and cognitive science can address challenges in human-computer interactions. 13/

The first tool is Sampling with People (SP). It recruits humans to alternate between annotating tones for sentences and creating sentences for given tones, forming an unbiased sample of both, as SP implements a Gibbs’ Sampler with people. We repeat the process for LLMs. 4/
