I think some people are starting to crave different stories but brands will need to tread carefully when they making the decision on what to engage on or not. There was a convo earlier about April Fools and my gut would say to stay away from that #commschat

Yes anything that is too sharp, commercially focused or risks being seen as profiteering is risky – pharma companies in particular have to be very careful on how their vital research efforts are being positioned #commschat

Good examples have been AstraZeneca making face masks, Dyson & Tesla ventilators and Mercedes breathing aids. Likewise, Pret’s free coffee and supermarkets’ dedicated shopping hours for NHS staff #commschat

Some initial thoughts…It’s important to remember that the pandemic will progress through different stages and what’s appropriate now won’t be later. In the 1st week, focus was proactive customer reassurance; this then switched to employee support for homeworking #commschat

We started WFH 2 weeks ago. We’re a small team. Every Friday, when Spotify releases everyone’s Release Radar, we create a Cravenhill New Release Friday playlist. Everyone adds 5 tracks, but could be fewer for bigger teams. #commschat

Don’t be fooled. It’s not Monday at 8pm. These new daytime #CommsChat are much more entertaining than daytime television. #CommsHero 🦸🏻♀️🦸🏼♀️🦸🏻♂️
Hi Commschatters! Welcome to our first ‘daytime’ #commschat. In light of yesterday’s topic on employee experience I thought it would be interesting to start the discussion on employee experience while working remotely

We have had judging for the Internal Communications and Engagement Awards (online, obviously) but today we’ve had to give them extra time. I have so much respect for internal comms people right now. You’re doing an amazing job. #commschat

Yes! Transparency builds authenticity and real connections. Your employees are your most valuable assets, excluding them is not an option, ever! #Commschat

#InternalComms and employee experiences have the potential to be a catalyst for growth, especially when grounded in trust, effective information sharing, and feedback. We’re seeing the effect IC brings to innovation, accelerated change, and shaping work life #commschat @CommsChat
Topic 2: Are employees the gatekeepers to brand reputation? Why or why not? #commschat

Research from @LinkedIn suggests that 3 out of 4 job seekers look into a company's reputation before applying to a job. At the same time, we know that more than 90% of people trust recommendations from people over companies. #Commschat

Couldn't agree more! All companies provide their employees with experiences, wether they like to or not. And as an employer, you have a responsibility being thoughtful of what experience you are providing. Make it a good one if you can, right? #Commschat

Employee experience is the ultimate showcase of how your company’s culture is lived. It’s more than the mission statement and core values on the wall: it’s how everyone across the leadership team to the front line walks the talk. #commschat @CommsChat
Topic 1: What does employee experience mean to you? What is the best employee experience you've been part of? #commschat

Ultimately though, user generated is a very cost effective option if you have the right team as all the heavy lifting is done for you. You just need to make sure they film it right :D #commschat

Yes, interactive videos are definitely underused. I’ve seen some work brilliantly, especially in retail #CommsChat

Structured 'broadcast'-style programs are something now achievable. No more 45min uncut presentations to camera - interviews, features, Q&As with SLT, live polls, monthly awards, staff showcases. All can be low overhead, flexible, engage and can re-use existing assets #commschat

Budget is an issue as video/animation is expensive but the results when well implemented hit a broad base. Being brave with content can yield great results. Orgs need to know their audience. Also make it interactive or fun

Not a "requirement". Video is a string to a bow - the medium is not the campaign. Who are you engaging? Why? What are your KPIs? Those are key questions. The medium will come from there - sometimes video is critical, sometimes not. Flexibility & open mind are key #Commschat

“There is a discrepancy between the communication tools that people find most effective and the ones they regularly use. Visual-based tools, for example, are relatively underused compared with their effectiveness.” – @theEIU #commschat @CommsChat
