The 2027 plans are set 🗓️
Here’s where you’ll find us next year:
🚐 Roadshows kick things off with a week each in LA (Jan 19-22), Austin (Feb 22-26) and NYC (March 15-19). Acquisition, Retention, and AI & Ops are three separate events, each with its own experts and roundtables.
🤠 Austin is back May 3-4 for year two! After a successful 2026, we’re running it back with 500 founders and operators for two days in downtown Austin.
🌊 San Diego returns Sept 20-21 for year five! Join 1,000 founders and operators by the water for keynotes, curated roundtables and the best networking in DTC.

Most ecom events give you more talks than you probably want (ours included)..so next year at @CommerceRound table: it’s less talks, larger slots.
What won’t make the cut:
• recycled deck
• same talk from every other stage
• “why AI matters” slop
• theory you’ve never run
• only the wins
• no numbers
• nothing the room can use
• follower count as the credential
• dodging the Q&A
On the flip side..what I actually want on stage is pretty simple.
You’ve actually done the thing you’re teaching AND have the numbers from it, you’ll tell the room what went wrong too, and you show up ready for the Q&A..that’s where so much value lives.
Someone should walk out with something they can go run that YOU gave them.
If that sounds like you, we made a page for it. The team reviews every application and reaches out if there’s a fit. More details below.

Hot take from an event guy:
Most ecom events give you more talks than you probably want (ours included)
We added speakers to Commerce Roundtable at the last minute who did not need to be added, just to stack the room with more content.
And it backed up on us:
- a lot of the feedback was that it went too long and we didn't start on time
- the Q&A, which is where the value was, had like another 30-40 minutes per person we had to cut off
So next year it's less talks, larger slots, and round tables by topic.
Was the content extremely important? Yes. Was it the main reason people were in the room? No..it's more for people to see everybody else and be in the community.

AI & Ops Roadshow- March 2027: NYC, LA & Austin: This ones for our Founders, Operators, C Suite, Finance! A hands on roundtable on getting educated and executing hands on AI and Operations within your DTC and eCommerce business.

My friend Rytis from Omnisend is one of my favorite people in this industry, and it mostly comes down to one thing. He's extremely genuine.
He was on stage at Commerce Roundtable last week, and it's clear he knows this space inside and out. He talks about it like someone who's actually in it rather than someone selling you something.
Same goes for the rest of the @omnisend team. Easy to talk to, they take what they hear seriously, and they genuinely care in a way many other platforms don't.
Partners like Omnisend are the reason an event like @CommerceRound can happen at all. Their support is what gets a room full of operators together to trade what's actually working.
Really grateful for their partnership. It's by far been one of the easiest and most authentic ones I've had.
🤝 Paid partnership

That's a wrap on Commerce Roundtable San Diego 🌊
We co-hosted the happy hour on the rooftop at Topsail with @ShipVelocity and @Compaytence, and it stayed packed with ecommerce founders and operators from sunset until well after dark.
🙏 Thank you to everyone who came out, and to @CommerceRound for having us. See you at the next one.

Barely been a week since @CommerceRound and I’m still processing everything I learned.
But @spencepawliw’s talk about META ad creative already has me rethinking how we test email.
I'm a Breakthrough Advertising fanboy so as soon as he mentioned that book I knew it was going to be good.
A few things that stuck with me:
• “Always be testing” only works if there’s a system behind it.
• Change the angle or positioning on purpose. Don’t just change elements randomly to change it.
• The work doesn’t stop when the test ends. Sit down as a team and figure out why it won or lost.
This was talk was about ad creative, but I can already see how we could roll the same system into email.
time to get to work.

Every email you send has sentences that don't need to be there...
"We hope you're doing well"
"Just wanted to reach out"
"We thought you might like"
They add nothing.
They make your email longer and less likely to be read.
Here's a prompt that removes this:
"Edit this email. Remove: any greeting longer than 2 words, any sentence about 'hoping' or 'thinking', any question that isn't essential, any 'just' or 'simply' or 'actually', any transitional phrase, any sentence that doesn't add new information. Show me the before and after."
Watch what happens.
A 120 word email becomes 60 words.
A 60 word email becomes 35 words.
AI can do this to everything you write.
But you have to ask it to.
It won't do it by default because most people want longer emails.
Be the person who wants shorter ones

Shoutout to @iamshackelford for an amazing event.
I never spoke on a stage before so this was outside of my comfort zone.
I tried to back out multiple times but Nick wouldn't let me and I'm glad everything went well.
Also, events are underrated for making quality relationships in the industry. Don't go to events and shake 100 hands or sit on the chair all day. Go there shake 10 hands but nurture the relationships. Quality over quantity.

Here are my top 10 takeaways from @CommerceRound last week in San Diego:
1. @iamshackelford and @jimmykim are the GOATs of ecom events. Nobody hosts like these two, and the whole CR crew crushed it again. The protein was plentiful.
2. @ezrafirestone still nails the basics. Every nine-figure brand he studied only had one profitable acquisition channel. Everything else was a loss-leader to build the brand.
3. @TaylorHoliday: the whole game is finding hits. Hold quality constant and raise creative volume. More bats at the plate means more of your spend lands on winners.
Still feeling the halo effect (yes, the TikTok ads lifting Meta / Google / email kind).
4. @jordanmenard: LLM ads are basically keyword buying for assistant answers. You can buy responses to brand queries across an LLM network the way you’d buy Google keywords, which is a real shortcut for brands that can’t win organic LLM ranking yet.
5. @jacob_posel: build a company brain. Every AI mistake becomes a saved rule so the next run doesn’t repeat it, and one person’s skill becomes the whole team’s.
6. @BrettCurry: YouTube isn’t Meta. Ads that scale are usually 45–90 seconds, half the views are on TV with no click, and you need a handful of long-lived creatives, not 500 new ads a month.
7. Met the @ecommcowboy guys @chrislukehall and @colindougherty. Building a daily podcast and audience is a real grind, and the craft behind it is easy to underestimate.
8. Ran into @bryandstarck. Getting real customer conversations / interview feedback at scale is still one of the highest-leverage problem-solvers in ecom.
9. Caught up with @EricRausch on email and retention. Growth without retention is still a leaky bucket.
10. TikTok is an awesome TOF growth channel. Learned a lot from @jordantwestecom and @alexrudolphh and @TylerBrechbiel.
11. @abdushodmonov / Primal Queen: you can’t outspend a page that doesn’t convert. Test offers, simplify the choice, remove friction, and keep a sticky CTA always in reach.
All the other speakers crushed it too. Wish I could’ve connected with everyone.
Also great connecting with: @ecom_joseph @RickyJPerezE @JenRoot8 @SebDoesAds @abdushodmonov @ChrisLangSocial @KodyNordquist @Simon__Rob @iansells @_phoenixha @breallstrong @leacabrini @zachtheoldham @AaronJNosbisch @conoritaya @EggrolI @Panterra0x @BrandonLHoroho @OpsWithKeyan @subscriptiondoc @yo_yahli

Back from Commerce Roundtable in San Diego feeling fresh
Talked to guys who built $100M brands, guys who raised $50M for their startups
Biggest takeaway: the gap between me and them is way smaller than I thought. They figured something out. I did too.
Running an agency for 100+ brands is honestly harder than most of what I heard there, so many moving pieces.
AI is moving extremely fast and teams can build anything right now. Came back thinking statics are a medium, not the only format. Video ads, media buying, bothing stops us from doing it all.
But the format was never the work. The work is what you deliver, sure. In advertising it's also making someone feel something so strong they want to stay for the story. Positive, negative, doubtful, doesn't matter, as long as it overflows. It's understanding what's subtle and what actually creates meaning. Utility alone doesn't hit as hard or last as long. Combine it with that and something crazy happens.
“We've come too far to give up who we are” Daft Punk said it better
Let’s work

The talks were great. The little convos outside them are what I’ll remember…
@SarahLevinger is the only person I know who gets visibly excited talking about creative ops. I respect it.
@EricRausch and I have a similar philosophy on selling our companies and a love for flag football, though his knee might disagree.
@alexgoughcooper is pretty damn impressive. I may have fan-girled when he told me he's been following me.
@jappleby and I relate on torso proportions. I’m still not sure what he does but I like him.
@DenneyDara has a voice for the stage, is so kind and welcoming, and thinks “around the corner” equates to a 20 minute walk 😅
@alyshadotmd needs to be followed by every marketer learning AI. Mad respect for her.
