See, you know that's not why the shooting happened, but you frame it as "a baby was shot over a pack or diapers".
The baby was shot because the mother posed a threat to the officers, used a baby as a shield, and the cop couldn't hit a small moving target.
Just owning up to her crime, paying a fine, taking a store ban, or whatever instead of peeling off in the direction of officers prevents this entire thing. It's an incredibly sad situation, but going outlaw sometimes has incredibly tragic consequences.

How do you drive at cops with a 1 year old in your lap? Most people do normal things in their cars with their babies in a car seat.
Most parents, when going out with their 1 year old, do reasonable things to protect the child. They have car seats, tend to drive safely, etc.
Then you have other parents that steal, then instead of owning up to it, drive their car right at police.
Parents aren't all the same.
If "living in reality" is continuing to vote for the "less bad" wing of the same bird that's been running the same playbook for the past 100+ years, you can have that reality. You do you as well.
The shooting itself was ruled justified. The driver of the car tried to use it as a weapon. It's just really sad and unfortunate that a lady decided to try this with her 1 year old in the car. The 1 year old died due to the mother's stupidity.

The 2-party system will stay as long as voting any other way is considered "not playing the game". But change can occur over time.
