Collie-in-the-city. Allegedly a 'Border' crossed with a 'Welsh' to create the most wilful dog imaginable. Like: walks, tennis balls and rolling. Eco-conscious.

I’ve just popped back onto CoCo’s feed, because my gorgeous girl has had some bad news from the vet. We need to wait for the dust settle and there’s some more tests to be done, but we’re terribly sad and just hoping you can hold her in your thoughts.

Please can I ask a favour? Please could you sign & share to save this village,& its wildlife? It’s nearby, is beautiful & is truly a haven for animals. This development would utterly destroy it. Thank you so much. Please RT. 🙏🙏🙏 chng.it/F2pbm6WTBv

This is the same United Utilities clearing upland farms supposedly to help with cleaner water The bullshit at work in the environmental sector is off the scale at present - large land owners and corporations running amok with wildly self serving nonsense
This is not how a river in the Lake District should look. This stretch of river is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and the location of the now infamous Cunsey Beck fish kill in 2022. Upstream from where the second photo was taken yesterday, there are four United Utilities assets: Near Sawrey Wastewater Treatment Works, Esthwaite Lodge Pumping Station, Hawkshead Pumping Station, and Hawkshead Wastewater Treatment Works. Working with Professor Peter Hammond from @windrushwasp, we have been able to show that two of these sites have illegally dumped sewage in recent years. Utter disdain for such a beautiful part of this country. This is just down the road from Beatrix potters home.

Tomorrow is Burns Night, when Scotland honours its greatest poet. But Robert Burns wasn't just writing poems — he was reviving the Scots language. Scots was once spoken by kings — but it was cast aside. Here's the untold tale of English's closest cousin, and how it survived 🧵

🦊 Boxing Day: A Celebration of Cruelty Every year, hunts parade through our streets, flaunting their so-called "tradition." It’s a disgrace that this barbaric practice is still legal. We need a REAL ban on hunting NOW!

Colin has come to stay at #CollieHQ ❤️
Sometimes even we need help with dogs! 🐕 Colin came to us from a sanctuary that was closing down in Wales.  We have not managed to home him and his fosters haven't worked out.  Our dogs just don't understand him (as he is a collie in his behaviours), and we have struggled to help him settle and relax.  We have been unable to give him the activity outlets he needs as our dogs won't run with him and he needs more breed specific training than we can offer to get him the right home.  So, we have called upon an expert in collies - @HartCollie who runs an amazing free-running Collie Rescue in Wales. We had the most amazing opportunity watching Diane introduce him to her pack and see how another free running rescue works. It was one of the best things we have ever done.   Diane has taken Colin for a few weeks for residential assessment and rehabilitation with her pack. Naturally we are paying for her services and hope the much-needed funds will help some of her rescue cases too. Diane is an absolute inspiration! 100 dogs - who are the happiest dogs you could see yet who have had some of the hardest lives imaginable.  Like us she has sanctuary dogs but also tries to rehome as many as she can.  Her phone never stopped ringing with pleas while we were there and so we know how lucky we are to have got him in there.  She's been sending updates and she's over the moon with him.  He's not put a paw wrong and seeing him there within a few minutes we knew it was the best thing we could have done for him. This was Colin’s first meet with some of her 100 dogs. It was magical to watch - they seemed to instinctively get Colin, and he them. As soon as he felt comfortable he started mimicking Collie behaviours and joining in their games, playing and moving in ways we have never seen of him. He didn’t even look back when we left which is a real testament to how safe he was feeling.  I thought we would feel sad but having never seen him as happy it has just been the most uplifting experience. Her dogs so different to ours but so fantastic and incredible in their difference too.  It would be wonderful if some of you could follow Diane’s page. Do watch the videos of her pack coming out to play. They are like a tornado flying down the field! It was also the funniest thing for us to be chatting with Diane and then look down to see 15 dogs laying perfectly still waiting for someone to throw the frisbee - never happens at ours!! But this is magic of meeting a kindred spirit who uses pack rehabilitation to help dogs most have given up on. #rescuesworkingtogether

A Statement from DOTS I’m writing this with tears in my eyes, struggling to find the words to express just how deflated I’m feeling right now. This situation doesn’t stem from anything the charity has done wrong, but rather from ongoing issues with our energy supplier, @SSE , and their handling of our account. Last year, we raised concerns when SSE suddenly attempted to take an unauthorised direct debit of £5000—far more than we had been paying monthly over the last two years. (£500) Despite countless emails and phone calls to resolve the issue, no one responded to us. Instead,@SSE tried to take the amount again, forcing us to cancel the direct debit to prevent unauthorised withdrawals. To make matters worse, SSE had been charging us 20% VAT on our bills instead of the 5% charity rate we’re entitled to. Even with the involvement of a support service to help resolve the complaint, (Extra help Unit) it took SSE 10 months to address the VAT issue and credit our account. During this time, they refused to accept payments from us, stating they were handling the back billing and credits. As a result, an enormous debt of £51,000.00 has built up. We’ve repeatedly expressed concerns about this mounting debt, and offered to make ongoing payments while the situation was being resolved. However, SSE did not notify us or allow us to adjust our payments over the years. This lack of communication and mismanagement has put us in a devastating position. We are now being asked to pay £4,312.84. a month here on. Despite questioning how we could possibly be using just under £8,000 worth of electricity a quarter—given that the sanctuary primarily runs on oil and uses minimal electricity—our concerns remain unanswered. We have now booked in to have a smart meter installed. We we are looking at setting up an independent fundraiser to help us with this and feel awful in doing so, but SSE has threatened us with disconnection, leaving us with no other option. This isn’t about paying the full bill immediately, but about reducing it enough to make our monthly direct debit manageable and ensure we can keep going. This is not our fault. It’s the result of SSE’s mismanagement and lack of communication, yet we are the ones facing the consequences. The thought that this could collapse DOTS and force us to close our sanctuary is heartbreaking. If you are able to help, even in the smallest way, it would mean everything to us and the dogs we care for. Before we go ahead and set it up, we wanted to see how our supporters felt about a fundraiser and would anyone even £1 would be happy to donate towards this. We are just awaiting what is known as the deadlock letter from SSE before we forward this onto the Energy Ombudsman. Even if @itvMLshow could give us any advice. Thank you for standing by us during this incredibly difficult time. I just literally spent an hour on the phone crying my eyes out with the fear that the error of others could collapse us.
