Almost nothing makes me happier than good customer service.
Really nice customer service from @LEGO_Group - if you're missing a piece, they just... send it to you.

Following a quiet morning session for our Castlemilk Together @GlasgowCC holiday programme 50+ children and young people show up this afternoon.
Lots of fun activities and games followed by great food from Macarico after each session.

Five years ago today, Sir David Amess was killed while serving the people of Southend West.
I knew David as a kind, tireless colleague who dedicated his life to public service. His death was a terrible reminder of the risks faced by those in public life, and of our responsibility to ensure that everyone can serve their communities without fear.
Today, we remember David’s extraordinary commitment to the people he represented, and the lasting loss felt by his family, friends and all who knew him.

A message from the riders:
As riders, we stand united against the unnecessary risk our lives are being subjected to.
This week alone, there were multiple incidents of vehicles on race courses. Two riders crashed when they hit a motorbike who was driving the wrong way on the race route. Luckily both escaped with cuts and bruises, it could have been so much worse.
This summer, a life was tragically lost to exactly this kind of failure. We will not stand for this any longer.
Riders race at high speed with little protection, and we depend on the race organisers to secure the roads. That responsibility is not being met.
We are calling for the help of the UCI for race organisers to take accountability and act. That means a serious, open conversation between riders, race organisers and the UCI resulting in concrete changes to how race routes are secured and managed.
After five minutes, we raced as normal. We did not want to affect the race, only to show what riders can do when we stand as one.
We love this sport. We respect the race organisers. We want to race hard and put on a show for our fans. However most importantly we want to come home safe to our loved ones.

The meaning of the phrase Jews Don’t Count is often misunderstood. It means: as a vulnerable minority. A minority that has suffered, like all minorities, extreme violence and discrimination. The assumption remains, despite history, that Jews are too powerful really to be seen in that way. Drawing attention to Jewish suffering is seen as only another example of their power, of Jews' ability to highlight their own suffering at the expense of others. Jews are not granted specificity in suffering: it must always be compared to the suffering of others, and found wanting. And if you want to see that in action, have a look at some of the responses on here - or no doubt, below this message - to the various attempts to commemorate one acute example of Jewish suffering, that took place three years ago today.

George Orwell worked for the BBC for 2 years and didn’t particularly enjoy it. But at the end he told his boss that no one had ever asked him to broadcast anything he didn’t believe. I’ve now worked for it for 60 years, and can honestly say exactly the same thing.

This old wall on the banks of the Clyde in the East End of Glasgow might not look like much, but it's got a great story behind it, and its one that still has an impact to this day.

Yes, responding to a lack of courtesy was the reason a driver killed one of my pals last week. Should’ve been more courteous. Thanks for the tip @trafficscotland

I am once again calling on the Scottish Government to ban the export of Iain M Banks novels to the USA.
This is devastating.
