Not sure which Jews the @chiefrabbi is talking about. For many British Jews who believe in ‘Never Again’ to finally see the government take action against the racist, brutal Israeli state is a source of long delayed joy. As Jews we welcome it & exhort the government to do more to stop the slaughter, including a full arms embargo & the diplomatic & economic isolation of Israel
This is truly a dark day for British Jews.
Today our Government has chosen to ignore the deep concerns expressed by so many of us.
The measures announced amount to little more than political flag bearing for mendacious anti-Israel rhetoric and those who harbour a dangerous obsession with the Jewish State. These measures will succeed only in bolstering the very extremism they seek to target.
On the eve of Rosh Hashanah and at a time when our community is more vulnerable than ever to the wave of extremism that has been building over recent years, these sanctions do nothing to advance the cause of peace. Nor do they make anyone safer – quite the contrary.
Gesture politics of this kind feeds into an increasingly hostile discourse about Israel, and the cumulative effect of such punitive policies is to further embolden those, at home and abroad, who use hatred as a weapon against Jews.
A ride for the first time on one of the multiple units imported from Luxemburg, IR 10021 operated by Transferoviar Călători (TFC) .. travelling the whole journey București Nord to Brașov. Don’t look for the vagon number as the seat numbering is across the whole train. Unfortunately the TFC system doesn’t permit selecting your seat (CFR the state operator and Interregio Călători let you. As per the IR spec laid fine by law, Power points provided but high up so long cables needed. Aircon a requirement too is weak or non existent. – at Bucureşti, România
Intriguing .. though you buy a ticket online, after checking it, they print you out a ticket onboard 🤔
Today enjoyed supporting one of Iași’s talented tennis players Ilinica Amariei 🇷🇴by visiting Brașov for the day where she was a finalist but sadly beaten in three exhilarating high quality sets by Ashley Lahey 🇺🇸
Today .. off to Brașov with IR 11531 operated by Astra Trans Carpatic using an IC2 Diesel Multiple Unit (DMU): Purchased from Denmark's national railway company (DSB). These two-car articulated units seat 113 passengers in a 2+2 layout and run on regional and secondary routes.
