Memphis honestly should be Power 4 already. • 112 wins since 2014 (10th in FBS) • 70 home wins (T-5th in FBS) • 12 straight bowl appearances (1 of 7 FBS programs) • 10 ranked wins since 2015 (most among non-P4) • 51st-largest TV market • $73M annual athletic budget • $226.5M stadium renovation • $25M FedEx NIL commitment • 29 NCAA Tournament appearances What more does Memphis have to do?
Random thought but I’ve seen @MemphisFB a few times & their fans/band always travel well. This feels like a P4 fanbase & program especially when they fill up multiple sections of a visiting team stadium.

Useful visualization for policymakers and reporters tempted to frame rent control as a "renter protection," when in reality the evidence is quite clear that there are significant negative societal impacts downstream. 1) No reduction of homelessness. 2) Less housing supply and construction. 3) Higher rents for non-rent-controlled units. 4) Reduced housing quality. 5) Benefits only in-place residents (in terms of rent, not building condition.) Be very careful how you frame a policy that is spun as one thing but that does the opposite.
A new piece in the Financial Times created a great visualization of the results from this study. TL;DR: Rent control helps people whose rents get limited, but it hurts everyone else. It pushes up rents, pushes down new building, and makes cities worse. It is horrible policy.

Just a shocking level of incompetence.

Fishback is a raging antisemite who did poorly tonight, but this angle is worth keeping in mind. The antisemitism problem is not just with young folks on the left, it's across the board. It is very much rooted in their unregulated deeply addictive social media experience
James Fishback is winning every college campus precinct VoteHub has examined tonight.

When the Tigers were 2-10, Fred Smith was willing to dish out $10M per yr to any BCS (now called “power”) conference who would invite Memphis — this was a decade and a half ago He again pledged more millions to the Big 12 in 2016 lobbying for an invite Fuente, in his first season as HC, named Cannon Smith (grandson) to the team Leadership Council — Fuente would go on to rebuild & put Memphis on the football map These don’t even scratch the surface of the long history & relationship between FedEx/Memphis athletics I would love to see Arkansas football become what everyone in the state knows it can become & I’d love to see Silverfield be that guy…RS did a great job fundraising in his role as Memphis HC, but let’s not act like he was some sort of catalyst for getting FedEx “involved” The commitment/investment was already in place & RS was a good steward of that foundation
When Ryan Silverfield got FedEx involved with Memphis football it led to 11 wins. If he can get Walmart onboard at Arkansas like he suggested at SEC Media Days, “it’s over” for the rest of CFB. If he can lead the Razorbacks to some semblance of success this fall… watch out.

BREAKING: I just announced a $30 million plan to fix traffic congestion and keep people safe around the Sports Complex in South Philly. This area is a major economic and entertainment hub — and too many of us know what it’s like to sit in that traffic. Whether you’re coming into town for a game or you’re a local who drives on these roads daily, these investments will help you get to where you need to go safely and on time.
