I'm here to learn and talk about Elixir and Rust. Previously founded and sold two digital content businesses, now looking to make web tools for creators.

For anyone that loves functional programming, this talk (youtube.com/watch?v=dSMB3rsu…) on inverting a binary tree in one line of Elm taught me more things in 26 minutes than I've learned in entire university courses. @joelquen, this gif is for you!

@mcrumm I really appreciated your Elixir Conf talk on the LV lifecycle. It tied some concepts together for me, and the problem-solving vignettes were a succinct and helpful way to convey info. Nicely done! youtube.com/watch?v=J1l4W0T7…

If any #elixirlang people are struggling with Ecto queries, it may be because you need more familiarity with its underlying query language, SQL. If so, I can't recommend this tutorial highly enough. Just spend the 4 hours and level up: youtube.com/watch?v=HXV3zeQK…

As a recovering OOP code-slinger who is loving the #elixirlang life:

This looks like my next Rust read. Once again, took a look at the publisher and had no doubt that it will be insanely good: youtube.com/watch?v=DvcWrd5V…
For my fellow #elixirlang handwritten note enthusiasts on the iPad, "Notability" is second to none for handwriting conversion and general niceties for organizing knowledge. These notes I took for @clarkware's amazing liveview course started out far uglier:

Wowow I finally got a chance to check out #ElixirLang livebook and just occurred to me that it's going to be insanely valuable as a way to try out different abstract ideas and begin to connect them together with notes to myself and others. IEX session on 'roids. I needed this!

Gonna start digging into this bad boy on my spare time. Would love to learn all the cool ways that the OTP library can help me write better #elixirlang software beyond the already-amazing BEAM abstractions like Genserver, etc. I blame @elixir_mix for this.

Replying to @lawik
@lawik is doing a series of videos where he teaches his friend #elixirlang by way of Livebook and the excellent lessons from @elixirschool. It's surprisingly helpful to watch someone else learn and come at the topic with fresh eyes: youtube.com/watch?v=z6jF0s7j…

This @nostarch book is great for brushing up on #Linux Really well-written with surprisingly helpful notes that predicted a ton of my questions:

If you are looking for a wonderfully complete tour through how a computer actually works from first principles all the way through running a piece of software, "The Secret Life of Programs" from @nostarch is the way to go.
Awesome #elixirlang things: Deep data structure traversal in very little code: hexdocs.pm/elixir/Access.htm…

And with that, my very first ever pull request has been completed thanks to @chris_mccord. I believe this contribution will have positive ripple effects throughout the industry, lol. Seriously though, it feels good because I've been intimidated by this stuff for a while. #elixir

Shoutout to @adamwathan and @tailwindcss for just being super dope. Love being able to sit in my HTML and iteratively bang out a unique look and feel for my site while benefiting from a logical design system that abstracts JUST enough away to be maximally useful.

@sasajuric Watched your Youtube talk on the BEAM (youtube.com/watch?v=JvBT4XBd…) and it really clarified so much for me. Now I'm reading "Elixir in Action" through O'Reilly and it's amazing. Thank you for everything!
