I wrote about why I believe the Django community is in one currently, specifically around adding new features. If you sit and look at the tools and processes being built, we're headed in a fantastic direction. better-simple.com/django/202… #Django #Python

Better late than never! I wrote some thank-you's after my first #DjangoCon US in 2022 and finally decided to publish them. It's wild how much things have changed for me since then. better-simple.com/django/202…

The other major thing we've defined are the variety of ways a project can be funded! Any package can have their own Open Collective project. django-commons.org/funding/o… This means is that any project can do their own fundraising however they'd like. 💸

django-devbar 1.0.0 is out. I've been using it for almost a year and now consider it stable. No major changes planned for now. I'd like to hear how it works for others before deciding what's next. github.com/amureki/django-de…

I realized sort of late that I needed an allow list on all the APIs that are shown in the reports. That sort of puts a damper on the idea of supporting a broader set of Python/Django packages, but doesn't make it impossible either.

And we're live! djangoprobe.org/stats/ This page contains basic stats on how projects use Django. It's a small sample size (21 projects), but `transaction.atomic` is used in 76% of projects and `JSONResponse` in 52% of projects. #Django #Python

Because with an outline, I think the specifics here gets murky. PR descriptions don't need to be perfect. Recaps or summaries don't either. It's harder to take an absolute stance.

I think I'm settling on the policy of "don't use AI to generate a first draft of any* communication meant for humans." While I say any, there's always nuance and exceptions. But for the most part, c'mon.

I guess on one hand it's an honor to be targeted like this? Be super careful with your credentials everyone. They're targeting people and they're sneaky! frankwiles.com/posts/i-got-t…

Keeping track of Discord events is annoying, so I added support to allow people to add the events I host directly to your calendar. I hope to see folks soon! Apple: webcal://www.better-simple.com/events.ics Google: calendar.google.com/calendar… More info at: better-simple.com/events/

We're coming up on #Django election season. 🗳️ The six months before the 7.x Steering Council election feels like a long time, but it's going to be here before you know it! Plus, sometimes, ideas need time to permeate the community. better-simple.com/django/202…
