I wrote about why I believe the Django community is in one currently, specifically around adding new features. If you sit and look at the tools and processes being built, we're headed in a fantastic direction.

Better late than never! I wrote some thank-you's after my first #DjangoCon US in 2022 and finally decided to publish them. It's wild how much things have changed for me since then.

Django Commons has been making significant governance changes to better support the community-maintained #Python and #Django packages.
django-commons.org/blog/post…
- Allowing dormant and archived projects
- A trust ladder for contributors
- Adopted a default security policy
The other major thing we've defined are the variety of ways a project can be funded! Any package can have their own Open Collective project.
django-commons.org/funding/o…
This means is that any project can do their own fundraising however they'd like. 💸
django-devbar 1.0.0 is out. I've been using it for almost a year and now consider it stable. No major changes planned for now. I'd like to hear how it works for others before deciding what's next.

There are only a few days left until nominations close for #Django's only community prize. Please submit a nomination or three!

And we're live! djangoprobe.org/stats/ This page contains basic stats on how projects use Django.
It's a small sample size (21 projects), but `transaction.atomic` is used in 76% of projects and `JSONResponse` in 52% of projects.

I think I'm settling on the policy of "don't use AI to generate a first draft of any* communication meant for humans."
While I say any, there's always nuance and exceptions. But for the most part, c'mon.

We're happy to announce new teams of Session 7 🚀
New and familiar faces from the community have joined our Officers team and volunteered their time to make these 8 teams possible. 🤩

I guess on one hand it's an honor to be targeted like this? Be super careful with your credentials everyone. They're targeting people and they're sneaky! frankwiles.com/posts/i-got-t…
Keeping track of Discord events is annoying, so I added support to allow people to add the events I host directly to your calendar. I hope to see folks soon!

We're coming up on #Django election season. 🗳️ The six months before the 7.x Steering Council election feels like a long time, but it's going to be here before you know it! Plus, sometimes, ideas need time to permeate the community.

I read a book from the 1950's about speaking persuasively. The ideas in the book were good, but yup... Things are better nowadays.

Shout out to Storm Heg for his wonderful service as a Django Commons Admin. Thank you!

We're doing some basic debugging skills building on the #Django discord server (chat.djangoproject.com) in ~15m. We'll be going over Lab 1 of the debugging tutorial here: github.com/tim-schilling/deb…
I shared a new project, Django Probe, last Friday. It allows people to share how their projects use Django so the community can make better decisions. It's been getting better and accumulating projects (11!)

Oohh, @0xDPJ Django Commons lightning talk from @europython is published 🥳

If you're maintaining a #Python or #Django package and would like to make a community package, there's a home for you.
I felt bad that I didn't cover Q() objects in my Nifty #Django Features series, so I've rectified that oversight. 💪
There are many ways we can use Q() objects with the ORM and being aware of their flexibility will help you solve interesting problems.
