I donāt post my thoughts on here as often as I used to but I want to say this in hopes it reaches someone who may benefit..
In my 3rd year as Head Coach Iām realizing more every day that the opportunities I had early on to also be an assistant softball, swim, and vball coachā¦
In addition to basketball has been so impactful in how I lead now. Pulling from all of those coaches and sports has only allowed me to be better. What Iām saying is if youāre at a small school and have opportunities to help outā¦ dive in and be all in for the learning experience

The 24-25 team finished the year with a 3.53 team GPA which earned them #5 amongst two-year colleges in the Womenās Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) top 25 team honor roll.

As a coach, I want to know you as a person. Not just an athlete. I want to be able to talk to you about life. Not just softball. A lot of recruiting nowadays is about spotting the talent first. Which is understandable, and something I do first as well. But after that, I recruit the person. If I canāt have a conversation with you and canāt trust you OR your parents to represent our program well, I cant continue recruiting you. Thats honesty.
Recruits:
When you sayā¦ āI would be a good fit for your programā Please elaborate.
How do u stand out from the other 500 that āwould be a good fitā?
What do you know about our program/school that would make you think youād be a good fit?
How do we fit your wants/needs for a school/program?
What do you do to separate yourself from the rest?
Continue to reach out & advocate for yourself, add reasons as to why youāre the best option.
In turn, ask coaches to answer that same question if theyāre recruiting you.
Expectation built the culture.

The sport is the catalyst. The degree is the opportunity that leads to bigger moments and opportunities in life.
