“Disengaged parents” only exist when educators look outward, seeing the problem as resting with families, not seeing ourselves as part of it. When we look inward at ourselves instead, we see “parents with whom we do not yet have a relationship.” Now, there are things we can do.

Any priority area in schs requires resourcing – time, money, PD, & resources such as physical & emotional commitments. It won’t happen otherwise. Same is true of #parentengagement. It can’t be an add-on to tchrs’ loads, but integral to their core work. @TobiAnneLyons1

In Denver with the #NAFSCEAssembly24 - celebrating national thought leadership in Family & Community Engagement - with GIANTS in the field.
Where you find GREAT SCHOOLS and improved student outcomes - you find ENGAGED FAMILIES and communities. Research continually supports this - and practice shows it again and again.
Hot off the press: Findings from KY’s Statewide Family Engagement Center #SFEC.
Finding 3: Three essential conditions were present each time power rippled from families and communities to schools, rather than the converse:
> Creating space for families to co-create, lead, and facilitate
> Building equitable relationships between families and schools
> Employing qualified and committed staff.
Full Findings Here: bit.ly/48kYuAv
Grateful to @Dr_DMPerry and @metronyu for these years of partnership and the opportunity for work in #Kentucky to contribute to the field.
Congratulations, @DrSConstantino! Well-deserved!
