To be clear, the legal obligation on British government to act to prevent genocide does not require it to accept that it is a genocide, it only requires knowledge of a "serious risk" of genocide. To say we'll wait for ICJ decision is a failure to comply with the law.
‘Once you accept it’s a genocide, states have to act immediately.’
Andy Burnham won’t call what’s happening in Gaza a genocide, @NickFerrariLBC asks @HZomlot why not.

🇵🇸🇾🇪 BREAKING: The UK government's arms export policies have eviscerated international humanitarian law.
@CAATuk’s new report exposes how the UK arms exports system is fundamentally broken and rigged in favour of pre-determined conclusions.

It’s not normal in the middle of a health and climate crisis to actively promote highly polluting products that make things worse. Congratulations to Bristol which has just become the latest UK city to end ads for things like fossil fuels, flights & SUVs

There's a discussion on BlueSky about choosing the appropriate 2°C global carbon budget that aligns with the UNFCCC, Paris, ICJ, etc, climate commitments. The discussion is here: bsky.app/profile/did:plc:rkm…
My succinct two-penn'orth response is attached to this message.

ALT This is a sequential outline of my reasoning for choosing an approximate 500GtCO2 carbon budget for an 83% chance of not exceeding 2°C (from the start of 2027). It is too long for "alt text" but I I will put the argument as a blog post on my https://climateuncensored.com site in the next few days.

Nothing represents “business as usual” and “neoliberalism” quite like the oil industry: an extractive model that has generated trillions in profits while helping push the planet towards an increasingly uninhabitable future.
If the PM is serious about his stated ambitions, then allowing further extraction while the world quite literally burns would send the opposite message to the British public. It would suggest that, when confronted with the power and interests of the fossil fuel industry, those ambitions are negotiable.
If we believe oil still has a strategic role during the transition, then nationalise it and treat remaining reserves as a strategic national asset. Better still, leave as much of it in the ground as possible. But allowing new oil to be extracted and sold on international markets for billions in private profit, while doing little to lower UK household bills, is incompatible with any government claiming to be serious about the climate crisis, particularly if it wants to retain credibility on the international stage.

People of Clacton, @ByDonkeys have absolutely lifted the lid here.
You pay Farage £94k to be your MP. He’s hardly ever there.
Meanwhile his 12 other jobs have paid him £1,182,498 since the election, Mayfair gold dealers, tax-avoidance passport hustlers, US anti-abortion outfits, thousands of Cameo videos, the lot.
He who pays the piper dictates the tone.
