We conservatives, before 2016, decried "moral equivalence": the inability to choose between right and wrong, aggressor and victim, invader and invaded, friend and foe, tyrant and democrat, good and evil. Our country is disgraced. America, at present, is not itself.

There is no better example I can think of how Trump isn’t a steward of America or remotely patriotic or even nationalistic. He is simply a partisan of his own ego. This is just gross. He’s trying to suck up to a dictator and adversary by mocking another American president. And, btw, the anonymous functionary running this account will be remembered as a tiny little throne-sniffing weasel.

Scrubbed JD Vance tweet from 2020, peddling lefty conspiracy theories about libertarian donors securing tax cuts for the rich that, somehow, decimated American families.
This guy is not and has never been a conservative.

Those pushing Ukraine to surrender territory to Russia either don’t know these things, or they do know them but don’t care. Worth them asking which type they are when they comment or publish on the matter.

I'm old enough to remember when neighbor after neighbor told me how much of a financial sacrifice Trump was making to be president. His sacrifice was evidence of his patriotism.
This is Donald Trump's fortune over time. See those last two bars? Yeah, the presidency has been good to him.

Reminds me of when @DonaldJTrumpJr bragged to @TuckerCarlson in Nov. 2024 about begging President Trump to pick @JDVance for veep... around the time Junior was hired by 1789 Capital, which was one of Tucker's chief financiers & is run by Vance donors:

An unelected American 🇺🇸 with no diplomatic experience is telling me to surrender my home, and telling Ukraine 🇺🇦 to surrender even more land, to an imperialist, fascist dictator committing acts of terrorism every day.
I never thought I’d see the day, but here we are, Jared Kushner, negotiating away somebody else’s country.

Haha owning the libs by lying about 9/11!! Get rekt, libs, he lies about 9/11 now!!!
Trump claims he was basically lifted out of the rubble on 9/11: "Two fireman, big strong guys, they grabbed me under the arms -- 'got to get our of here!' -- and they literally lifted me up, and they started running with me."
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Trump was miles from Ground Zero on 9/11, speaking by phone from his office. He visited the area days later. His story of being lifted from the rubble by firefighters first appeared in 2021 and lacks corroborating evidence. politifact.com/factchecks/202… usatoday.com/story/news/fac… newsweek.com/fact-check-did…

He's one of the most brazen liars we've ever seen.
Trump on 9/11: "I just thank my people. I was building a big building in New York and I took the whole crew down there right after this happened and they had no hesitation. Everybody went down with me. We went down as a big group of people ... we thought it was coming down on top of us ... two fireman lifted me up and started running with me"

So Vance says he’s friends with Tucker despite some political disagreements.
Then his example is that Tucker doesn’t like Mike Rodgers, not that he promotes the view that Hitler gets a bad rap.
🚨 JUST IN: JD Vance calls Tucker Carlson his friend, refuses to "throw him under the bus," but says Tucker is WRONG in many of his attacks on Donald Trump
"Tucker is a friend of mine."
"I'm not gonna play the game where I throw friends under the bus because I have political disagreements!"
"He's said some things about POTUS that are just WRONG...he would support El Sayed over Mike Rogers. El Sayed is a crazy person."
"I remember when I became the vice presidential nominee, one of the hardest things for me personally is not when people attacked me, but when people attacked my wife, including friends of hers who knew her heart, who knew what a good person she was."
"And I remember thinking to myself, what a travesty it is that in the United States of America, we let political disagreements define who our friends are going to be and not going to be."

In April 2022, a 12-year-old Russian girl named Masha Moskalyova was told in art class to draw a picture supporting russian troops in Ukraine.
Instead, she drew a Ukrainian mother protecting her child as russian missiles flew toward them.
On the Ukrainian flag she wrote, “Glory to Ukraine.” On the russian flag: “No to war. No to Putin.”
Her school reported her to the authorities.
Police began investigating her father, Alexei Moskalyov, a single father who had raised Masha largely on his own. They searched his social media and discovered posts criticizing russia’s invasion and documenting russian atrocities in Bucha.
In December 2022, around a dozen russian security officers raided their home. They ransacked it, seized their computers, phones, and savings.
Alexei later said that during interrogations, officers beat him and slammed his head against the wall and floor. They blasted the russian national anthem at full volume while questioning him.
Eventually, the regime charged him with repeatedly “discrediting” the russian military because of his anti-war social-media posts.
Masha was taken away from him and placed in a state “social rehabilitation” center.
Alexei was sentenced to two years in a penal colony.
He later described horrific conditions there: a tiny punishment cell roughly two meters long, freezing temperatures, rats crawling out of the sewer, and days when he was forced to stand for as long as 16 hours because the bunk was locked against the wall.
Meanwhile, his daughter wrote to him.
“Dad, don’t give up.”
“You are my hero.”
They were separated for more than a year and a half.
On October 15, 2024, Alexei finally walked out of prison.
Masha was waiting for him.
Five days later, they fled russia.
They first escaped to Armenia and applied for a German humanitarian visa. After waiting for more than a year, their case stalled when Germany suspended the relevant humanitarian admission program.
Then France stepped in.
In March 2026, Masha and Alexei received French humanitarian visas and flew to Paris.
And on July 17, 2026, France granted them political asylum.
Today, Masha is drawing again and hopes to pursue art. She also writes and has spoken out in support of russian political prisoners.
When asked whether, knowing everything that happened afterward, she would still have made that drawing, Masha said she would.
“One only lives once.”
One drawing.
A child saying no to war.
And for that, the russian state destroyed their home, separated a father from his daughter, imprisoned him, and drove them both into exile.
This is what dictatorship looks like.

Shorter JD Vance: I have friends who are rabid Jew haters, white supremacists, think 9/11 was a US government conspiracy, admire Vladimir Putin and more. Because all of those are “political disagreements,” not moral choices.

House Republicans legislating & cheerleading Trump's socialist policies and then wasting floor time on meaningless show votes condemning socialism is so perfectly on brand. It's all a campaign-driven show for the rubes who cannot even define socialism.
