Such great pictures of the Nation's Capital. If you like having an old-school calendar give this a look.
I created three D.C. calendars for 2027. My usual Seasons of Washington calendar, a new Storms of Washington calendar, and a Best of Stumpy calendar.
Calendars are available on my dcstormchaser website and on the Capital Weather store. I'll include links in the comments.

Hurricane #Isaías will make landfall on the Florida panhandle this evening. Hardest hit will be Pensacola to Panama City. That heavy, tropical rain will be here in the DMV first thing Sunday morning and last all day. 1.5"-2.5" likely. Use the dry time today, tomorrow to prepare.

Can't stop watching the lightning within Hurricane Isaias.
Just a phenomenal view from space.

A milder morning will lead to a warmer afternoon. Highs near 80° today. #Isaias became a #hurricane overnight and poses a significant risk to the Gulf Coast between Biloxi, MS and Pensacola, FL Friday evening. We're sunny today & tomorrow, cloudy on Sat. and rainy on Sunday.
Tropical storm #Isaias has formed in the Gulf and will likely be a hurricane by tomorrow. A landfall near Mobile, AL late Friday seems likely. (stay tuned for updates on location/timing) That deep, tropicall moisture will impact the @nbcwashington area Sunday-Monday.

@ChuckBell4 Perfect conditions to view the Moon & Jupiter this morning. Photo taken in Glen Burnie, MD.
A much colder start this morning and a cooler afternoon ahead. You can't really ask for much nicer weather this time of year. Not a cloud in the sky for the next few days. Our next rain chance, likely Sunday into Monday, is dependent on a storm developing in the Gulf.
Quite a show in the early morning sky. The moon transited in front of Jupiter, and four of its visible moons.

Cool and foggy this morning but a significant pattern change blows in this afternoon. Northwest breezes will push the clouds/fog away before noon. The rest of the day will be sunny & mild. Tues.&Wed. AM will be way colder! Sctd. frost in the WV mountains & maybe even near I-81.

Incredible footage of volcanic eruption of a dormant volcano in Ethiopia from a commercial plane.
A sight seen for the first time in recorded history. ⌚

The video is AI-generated and predates the November 2025 Hayli Gubbi eruption in Ethiopia, which was documented by satellites showing ash plumes rather than plane-window footage.

October in DC will start out toasty warm but it sure won't stay that way. Showers late Friday afternoon and evening will lead to a cool and cloudy weekend. Most of Saturday afternoon/evening will be dry before rain returns on Sunday. Cool, dry weather next week. @nbcwashington

Nothing says fall is here like the arrival of the giant pumpkin at Valley View Farms in Cockeysville. This year it checks in at 1,822 lbs. and is known as “Action Jackson”. Be sure to stop by and register a guess for how many seeds we’ll find when we count them all on Halloween. The three closest guesses win gift certificates.
