News you can use
In a recent forum, popular neuroscientist and health guru, Andrew Huberman, revealed his secret for falling asleep in those anxious mid-morning hours when he says you shouldn't believe any thought that fills your mind. He said, "I'm being completely direct with you when I say it's worked every single time."
Huberman: "What I do is I get out of bed, and I pray. And these days, you know, again, I'm just being completely direct with my practice, I just pray to God. I pray, I just ask Jesus, 'Would you please hold me and bring me some peace so I can rest, so I can be my best self tomorrow, so I can serve the world better. And I'm hurting right now, and I can't seem to do it for myself.'
He also referenced techniques for calming the body in this discussion, but he emphasized the relief he has found through prayer:
"It's a great time to pray. I'm serious, many a night, many a night, you will find me on my knees praying in the hours between 3 and 5:00 a.m. simply for peace, simply to get to morning without additional stress, simply just trying to listen for something other than my own anxious thoughts."
As a woman in her late 40s, I found it comforting to know that even big, strong health gurus know what it's like to struggle with sleep, but also to be reminded that ultimately it's the Lord who gives peace and rest to those who cast their anxious cares on Him. 💤

Nobody described the Dolly look better than Dolly herself.
“Any old barn looked better with a little red paint on it. So I guess I’ve just painted the barn with a few extra coats.”
She told Jane Pauley that in 1978, on her first appearance on TODAY. She was 32 and already explaining the wigs, the makeup, and the difference between the look and the person underneath.
The rest, she said, was just something she enjoyed doing.

🚨 OMG. In a mic drop moment, the father of 5-year-old Dalilah Coleman — nearly slain by an illegal alien driver — looks Democrats in the eye, and absolutely goes off...
"I REJECT your guys' sympathy, to be honest with you."
"As far as that side of the aisle goes, I think that building needs to get checked for MOLD or something because you guys are REALLY out of your guys' mind thinking that sanctuary cities are the ways you go!"
"There's no way you guys are sorry. Not ONE of you guys have EVER called me, not one of you guys have ever reached out to me, not one of you guys have ever sat there and seen me in the hallways and said, hey, sorry about your daughter."
"This is the end result of sanctuary city right here. *Motions to Dalilah* And the guy was just going to work?"
"You guys want to talk about illegal immigrants. So he's just driving to work and trying to be a part of the community. This is what happens right here!"
"You guys do it right here while you guys are grand standing on top of your soapbox."
"This is when you guys 'care.' Right here inside this room is the only time you guys 'care.'"
"I've never received anything from anybody over here at all regarding my daughter or my family or anything. Hey, Mr. Coleman, your guys Dalilah law. I want to help you revise this so that we were interested inside of it. Nothing. You guys have no pathway to anything. You guys want to sit there and talk about the pathway to citizenship. There is a pathway. It's not jump the fence and apply!" 💯
"I'm now pinching pennies. I have nine kids, by the way, that I take care of. And I had to sit there and stretch that all because of this right here."
"There's no way at all that anybody should fall victim to what's going on behind somebody who's not supposed to be here."
"If I moved into your house without your permission and I started sitting there derailing your guys' household and taking from your guys' monetary and your guys' food and stuff like that, you guys would have me either kicked out, ask me to move out or have the police escort me out. It's the same thing in the United States!"

Wise words
Start with the question, "In 100 years, will this matter?"
Then move to "When I am old, what will matter?"
Only then do you ask, "Do I want to do it today?"
Notice how you and your selfish, short-sighted desires come last.

Prince’s guitar solo here has to be one of the greatest in rock history. I’ve watched this a hundred times and it is absolutely mind-blowing.
2004 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame night can be one of the best of its history since there's never been a performance like this one.
Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood, Dhani Harrison, and the legendary Prince performing "While My Guitar Gently Weeps".
There are many solos performed live but this one, this one is such an undefinable. For this reason, I'll leave the best comment for this live performance made by a user.
"Watching Prince re-arrange the molecular structure of the universe with his guitar never gets old"
That's it, that's the performance.

I could not have said it better!
Harrison Butker gave a fantastic commencement speech because he asked young graduates to think critically about something too few are ever asked to think about at all—either in college or even on their way out the door—their future spouses and families.
Few things are more important or consequential in a person’s life than marriage and children. I don’t think telling women to pursue professional goals is a “despicable lie.” I have a law degree and loved my job as a public defender. I loved the work itself and the financial independence of being a working woman. But the message generations of young women now receive is crystal clear: you can and should pursue a career to the exclusion of thinking about, prioritizing, and working towards the goal of marriage, motherhood and the joys of home life that lie outside of careers.
We teach our children in all sorts of ways—with school, religion, cultural choices, and simple role modeling. But there is a steep disconnect between those telling young women to be endlessly career driven, to pretend they have the sexual appetites of men, and assure them that child rearing can be an add-on and not a game changer, and not notice when so many young women are unhappy.
Talking to young women (and men!) about what they truly want in life is a radical act of love. That includes career, but if you are being honest it also includes marriage, children, community, and for some, religion. The basic biology of pregnancy and breastfeeding means that women, more than men, need honest counsel about things like choosing career or job tracks that are more family friendly because it is almost always women who exit the workforce to raise their kids. Or about balancing the upside of stay-at-home motherhood with the downside of being financially dependent on someone.
Talking about those choices in a thoughtful way is not misogyny—in fact just the opposite. It’s so much more respectful to young women to talk about marriage and children and career all together because for most of us, we have to navigate it all together and it is not easy.
You can disagree with Butker and think he got it wrong, in whole or in part, but let’s hear your words of wisdom for a young woman who wants to be a mom and wife as much as, or more than, a career woman. Do you have anything respectful, thoughtful or loving to say to her?
I had my four kids late in life, and if I could change anything I would have started earlier and had more. Butker’s commencement address reminded me to talk to my teens about marriage, family, choosing a spouse, having kids. Lots of eye rolls, but as any parent knows, they hear you. So it is important to talk about the important stuff. And for that Butker should be commended.
