Hey @AddisonLeeCabs rather than sending me emails like this saying “we got you covered”, how about not leaving me in the lurch the last time I did exactly what your email proposes?
Ironically, you did exactly what your email suggests you’re there to help avoid. 😡 – at Munich, Germany
I recently tweeted about a Krapfen (donut) my local bakery would be making to celebrate the Feast of St Nicholas.
Thats today, so time to try it out & to test @40PercentGerman’s suggestion that it might go well with cheese.
A thread 🧵 (1/7) – at Munich, Germany
There I was @40PercentGerman, thinking I’d have at least until January before the Krapfenfest begins.
Lo and behold the unwritten but ever-respected ‘any excuse to make a Krapfen’ rule kicks in.
It’s not like bakeries need tempting treats to lure us in, in December!
Time then to try both with and without cheese.
One half of the Krapfen as delivered by the baker (L) the other with a slice of Butterkäse inserted into it (R).
And the verdict was… (6/7) – at Munich, Germany

Germany and the US have weaved nations out of many strands. But balancing freedom and unity is never without friction.

While @40PercentGerman awaits his new arrival, I’ve found another one I know he’d approve of.
In Stuttgart — where obviously Berlin meets Bayern — you find…what else? The Currywurstbreze. It’s a magical thing.

I love meeting people I've been interacting with on social media & discovering they're just as fabulous IRL. A serendipitous encounter this morning en route to Munich with @EurostarJustinp; a legend offline as well as online & a real credit to @Eurostar.
#TrainsNotPlanes
Qu. for you @EurostarJustinp, as I sit on ES9157 BRU>LON. What are the statistical chances of you being on my train (or vice versa 😉) given shifts, holidays etc. Any idea? 27 trains…
Want that selfie & to be able to say thank you in person for your awesome content.
The joys of travelling on a rail pass in Europe. Some operators don’t take them. This one, doesn’t like my First Class one (yes, I know 1st world problems!) & needs me to pay a supplement. OK but I now feel I’m being trolled by made up destination names.
@EurostarJustinp
This is exactly the kind of post that make @germany_iam super compelling week on week!
That said, why isn’t the airport named after the train station not the other way round?!
[I know, but it’s fun to ask…]

One for @EurostarJustinp who, I know will love this idea ! On Indonesian 🇮🇩 Railways, the conductor’s phone number is displayed in every carriage. Must find an excuse to give Arif a call.
Last week @sebs_tweets shared a picture of a @marksandspencer Bacon Lettuce & Tomato sandwich in a cheesy hot cross bun. Obviously someone had to try it. So here, for Seb, @porkchop_EXP, @40percentgerman & everyone else, is my verdict (1/2)
Lovely @SZ piece charting the history of Krapfen inc. the apocryphal 17th century story of Cäcilie Krapf, who is said to have thrown a piece of yeast dough into hot fat out of frustration with her husband/apprentice.

A few weeks back, I joined the @HumanRiskLtd podcast.
The Human Risk pod focuses on "the risk of people doing things they shouldn't or should not do" and examines how behavioral science can help us mitigate it.
