I can be quite skeptical on this concept personally, but we are always up for the challenge of rebutting Rubio and the rebranded crusaders using their own frameworks. youtu.be/5jrXcZs2Fh8

Replying to @AMercouris
@AMercouris: “We’re looking at a policy of conflict & aggression against non-western countries, but China specifically.” @ChrisDMott: “If America wants to be the enemy of China, they are finally picking a rivalry with someone who is designed to humiliate & outclass them.”  #Iran
Marco Rubio wants the West to rediscover what made it great. But what truly distinguishes Western civilization is not its military power or national pride, as Rubio suggests, but its intellectual and political traditions. My take:

NEW POLL: Ending US wars overseas is a supermajority position (67%) among swing state voters. Recognizing Israel’s actions in Gaza as a genocide and ending all military aid to Israel are majority positions, with even stronger support among Independents. project270.vote/research/

The Trump adminstration invokes Xerxes and talks of civilizational war with Persia to mask its "red-pilled" globalism and sell its wars of choice as crusades for "the West". More likely, they'll end up like Valerian— ensnared, desperate, and losing an empire in the East. My latest @amconmag. theamericanconservative.com/…

The US is the most geopolitically secure nation in human history. The challenge for hawks since WWI has been to overcome this by expanding the definition of America and its obligations in order to justify their foreign policy aims. Same move, different venner.

Maybe it was a bad idea to appoint as ambassador to Israel a radical Christian Zionist who thinks it would be fine for Israel to conquer all of the Middle East.

Honestly there needs to be a third list for books first read in childhood, as all the above were first read post childhood.

The US's elite liberal meritocracy (Booker is a Rhodes Scholar and Yale Law School alum in addition to a Senator), white or nonwhite, are all exactly the same. They are also a model of class loyalty to one another.
. @brett_mcgurk is one of our nation’s great experts on the Middle East and has spent decades working at the highest levels of diplomacy through some of the region’s most consequential moments. I’m really looking forward to reading Brink and learning from his firsthand account of the extraordinary efforts to free the hostages, and confront the extraordinary challenges of the region.

Scrapping USAID really was a generational move by the Trump administration. Socialists be damned.

Somewhere along the line, the taboo against comparing everything you don’t like to Hitler disappeared. Saddam was Hitler Gaddafi was Hitler Assad was Hitler Putin is Hitler Xi is Hitler We had to bomb Serbia because Never Again If you don’t want war you’re probably Neville Chamberlain Everything was a battle between a hero and a villain and every villain was Hitler. When Eastern European allies joined NATO they demanded full co-Hitler status for Stalin. This meant the rehabilitation of fascists who fought the Red Army because they were fighting Stalin who is as evil as Hitler. Except those fascists were actually literally fighting with the OG Hitler. Oops. How did we get there? How did we end up denying the holocaust in order to remember it? How did the Canadian House of Commons give a standing ovation to a member of the Waffen SS? The Kallas effect is the tendency to retrospectively reconstruct the alliances of WWII according to present-day political alignments. We are operating in a space of total historic amnesia. We only ever refer back to one war, and we insist on remembering it wrong.

Music for a shaman-advisor composing epic poems, premodern or postapocalyptic, you decide. I tried not to have multiple albums from the same band but I had to make one exception anyway.

If I had been able to stick to dont repeat bands rule I suppose The Mantle could have been swapped for a Panopticon album, possibly the most recent one. That or one of the first few Perturbator albums.
