Day 245 of the #nepats are one #superbowl win away from their 7th!!!! Here’s the preview for our home showdown at Gillette Stadium taking on the New York RATS… oh I mean Jets!! Real fans don’t forget the spygate nonsense that cost us a perfect season!! The dawg is in the building today !! Patriots come in at 3-2 riding a two-game heater after that 29-26 road win in Buffalo and then dropping a 45-17 burger on the Raiders at home where Drake Maye had the game of his life!! Jets sit at 2-3 after grinding out a 17-12 win over the Browns. This one feels like a chance to keep the momentum rolling and go 2-0 in the AFC East if Maye stays clean against that blitz-happy defense or miserable depending on our game play, or a potential trap if David Bailey and company get after him early. Maye doesn’t have to be perfect — just efficient enough to connect with the wideouts (especially if AJ is back) and let the defense feast!! Network: CBS, streaming on Paramount+

Brown (ankle — IR), Will Campbell (knee), TreVeyon Henderson (ankle), Marcus Bryant (ankle — IR), Channing Canada (hamstring), Christian Elliss (chest), Craig Woodson (shoulder). Drake Maye full go, Christian Gonzalez full go and ready to rock. Jets: Breece Hall OUT (quad), Adonai Mitchell OUT (finger), Dylan Parham OUT (knee), Joseph Ossai OUT (ankle). Omar Cooper Jr. and Kenyon Sadiq expected back. Key Players: Jets — Geno Smith trying to stay turnover-free he actually won on the opener with the Raiders a year ago, Garrett Wilson legit their only real threat in the passing game and Breece Hall is out for their run game , rookie edge David Bailey who just wrecked the Browns with 3 sacks and is a problem, that blitz rate that ranks near the top of the league. Patriots — Drake Maye coming off 374 yards and 4 TDs plus a rushing score against Vegas. Rhamondre Stevenson (and whoever else is back there with Henderson questionable) needs to establish the run so Maye isn’t living in third-and-long. Hunter Henry and the tight ends have to win the middle. Gonzo is back so the secondary gets a huge boost. Front seven has to get after Smith and force him into mistakes. Matchup to watch: Christian Gonzalez returning to cover Garrett Wilson. Wilson is their whole passing attack and Gonzo has been itching to get back out there after missing the last two. Other side is Drake Maye and the offensive line vs that Jets pass rush and David Bailey. Bailey leads them in sacks and they love to blitz. With Campbell dealing with an injury the right side especially needs to hold up. If Maye can step up, throw on time, and avoid the hero-ball that showed up earlier in the year, the rest of the day gets a whole lot easier. Special teams and field position matter more than people think too!! The flow: Early, Jets will try to speed Maye up with blitzes and we need to isolate Willson when they have the ball. We need a couple first downs on the ground so Maye isn’t living in obvious passing downs. Middle of the game is where it tilts — if we protect the ball and the run game is functional and surprisingly Henderson is available , it stays comfortable at home. If the blitzes get home or turnovers come back, it can turn into a scrap. Late, we should be able to pull away with the crowd and our defense locking it down. In Vrabel we trust!!
