we're at the point where KiCad is exceeding Altium in featureset and it was even faster than I expected. I was thinking we'd have another year.
they're adding little things like pin function groups, but also HUGE ones like the geometric constraints. it's unbelievable.

A business card that can measure your ECG?
This is the latest revision of Simon Bowald's ECG business card.
The card measures a real ECG directly from your fingertips and displays it on a phone, all on a PCB the size of a normal business card.
The design is also incredibly compact. The 0.8 mm FR4 PCB itself holds the coin-cell battery and piezo transducer, while an AD8233 ECG front-end, 0.4 mm pitch BGA-style footprint with via-in-pad, and a low-profile I-PEX MHF4 connector are packed into the board.
Designed with KiCad and released as open source.

Hmm good question. I think jlcpcb focuses on doing a LOT of boards and therefore there prices are a bit lower. But not so long ago I had a client project that jlc could not make because they don't do blind vias, so we had to redo some stuff so it removed that complexity. NextPCB does do blind vias and other more complex things that jlc doesnt.
What I also love is that I can just send them my BOM and they will figure it out. With jlc you have to either pay them to do that or use the bom search tool.
If you want the absolute cheapest bare pcb for hobby projects then JLC is probably the better choice. But for PCBA and higher volume I would have to check but I think the price is similar.
