A two night stay in a mid range Airbnb in Cornwall: £350. Petrol to drive there: £60. Two pub dinners and a couple of drinks: £120. A Sunday roast on the way home: £45. You’ve spent nearly £600 to sit in a damp cottage while it pours with rain outside. Meanwhile, a week in Greece with flights included costs £400. We are literally paying premium prices to be cold in our own country.

A 500ml bottle of water: 40-70p in Tesco. £1.70+ at services. £3-3.50 at the airport. Same brand. Same bottle. They’re not selling “convenience”. They’re charging a captive customer tax because you have nowhere else to go. Rip off Britain is alive and well. Who else is sick of this every time they travel?

What a joke @British_Airways are. You pay thousands of pounds for Business class flights, then they want to charge me £524 more just so my wife and I can sit together on our already expensive flights. 🙄

Hi @premierinn - Next time I would like my room cleaned, preferably before I get there! This was Stafford Spitfire Room 225 this morning, where I also stood on a piece of broken glass on the carpet when I got out of bed, and also found human hair in the breakfast buffet!

Please @British_Airways find a new breakfast supplier. This was very inadequate for a long transatlantic crossing.

I paid over £8K on some premium flights with @British_Airways to find 2 of the 4 seats faulty and they have refused to issue any sort of compensation and now refusing to answer my emails. DO NOT TRAVEL WITH BRITISH AIRWAYS

Checked into a 5-star UK hotel paying £550 a night, and they don't even have the basic decency to put drinking water in the room. They actually told me to walk down a couple of floors with my own empty bottle to use a public refilling station. Absolutely pathetic service standards.  If this is what modern business looks like, they won a tiny battle on overhead costs while completely destroying the relationship. When you nickel-and-dime a guest paying top dollar just to pad your margins, you aren't doing smart business, you're just proving that greed matters more than basic hospitality.  At the end of the day, negotiation 101 is about creating a win-win: satisfying both parties' interests and building long-term value instead of squeezing every last drop out of a single transaction.

James Martin's Manchester restaurant has closed its doors after more than a decade, with customers being offered refunds following the shock announcement. The celebrity chef's restaurant at Manchester235 has ceased trading, bringing an end to a partnership which dates back to 2012. The venue, based inside the Great Northern Warehouse on Watson Street, had become a familiar name on Manchester's dining scene, serving James Martin's take on modern British food alongside the casino's bars and entertainment.

JUST HAD TO BE SHARED ☕️ Buying a fucking coffee has become unnecessarily complicated. There was a time when you walked into a café and asked for a coffee. That was it. "Coffee please." Somebody put coffee in a cup, you gave them some money, and everybody got on with their fucking day. Not anymore. Now you walk into somewhere like Costa and ordering a coffee feels like you're filling out a mortgage application. "What would you like?" Coffee. "Americano, latte, cappuccino, flat white, cortado, mocha, macchiato, espresso, double espresso, iced latte, iced Americano, frappe?" Fucking hell. I don't know. The brown one that wakes me up. Then comes the size. Small, medium, large, regular, tall, grande, massive, fucking oil drum. I'll have a large. Excellent. Surely we're finished. Oh no. "What milk would you like?" Milk. "Whole, semi skimmed, skimmed, oat, almond, coconut, soya?" Cow. Just whatever normally comes out of a fucking cow. Then they start offering you syrups. Vanilla, caramel, hazelnut, salted caramel, gingerbread, cinnamon, chocolate, white chocolate, pumpkin spice, sugar free vanilla, sugar free caramel. No. I wanted a coffee. I didn't come in to design a fucking Yankee Candle. But we're still nowhere near finished. Would I like an extra shot? Decaf? Half caf? An extra hot one? Skinny? Whipped cream? Cold foam? Chocolate sprinkles? Cinnamon dust? Caramel drizzle? Chocolate drizzle? Ice? Crushed ice? Less ice? More ice? At this point I'm expecting them to ask whether I'd like fucking underfloor heating installed. And there's always somebody in front of you who knows this system intimately. "Can I have a large iced skinny oat milk caramel latte, half sweet, extra hot, two pumps of vanilla, one pump of hazelnut, no foam, extra shot, light ice, whipped cream, caramel drizzle?" Fucking hell, Barbara. You're not ordering a drink. You're giving the launch sequence for a fucking nuclear submarine. Meanwhile I'm standing behind her thinking, "Coffee. Milk. Two sugars. Please let me go home." Then comes the price. "That'll be five pounds eighty please." FIVE POUNDS EIGHTY? For a fucking coffee? For that money I want to keep the mug. In fact, I want shares in the fucking building. And because you've already stood there answering twenty seven questions about milk and syrup, you just tap your card like you've developed Stockholm syndrome. Then they finally hand it over. And I've ordered the biggest fucking size they've got because, naturally, I'm thinking bigger cup means more coffee. Silly me. The cup's the size of a fucking paint tin, but about fourteen percent of it appears to be coffee. The rest is milk, foam, whipped cream, syrup, ice, chocolate dust, caramel drizzle and whatever other fucking building materials they've used to construct it. You've basically ordered a coffee and they've built a fucking extension on top of it. If you've gone for one of the cold ones it's even worse. You pick up this enormous plastic cup thinking you've got enough caffeine to see you through until Thursday, then realise three quarters of the bastard is ice. Six quid for twelve ice cubes, a splash of milk and a frightened little espresso hiding at the bottom. Take the ice out and your "large" coffee would fit in a fucking egg cup. And then there's the whipped cream. Fucking mountains of it. You've got to eat your way through half of the Alps before you even reach the beverage you actually ordered. By the time you finally locate the coffee, you've consumed eight hundred calories and you've got cream on your nose. At that point it's not a drink anymore. It's a fucking dessert with a caffeine problem. And somehow we've all just accepted this. We've gone from putting the kettle on and spooning Nescafé into a mug to standing in a queue while somebody called Tyler asks what fucking personality we'd like our milk to have. I don't need my coffee to be an experience. I don't need it handcrafted. I don't need it drizzled. I don't need it dusted. I don't need it topped with something that looks like insulation foam. I just want it hot, strong and capable of making me slightly less likely to tell everyone to fuck off before nine o'clock in the morning. It's coffee. Put it in a cup. Give it to me. And stop making me take a fucking GCSE before I'm allowed to drink it.

I will NEVER fly @British_Airways ever again. Absolute WORST Airline EVER. They have left me stranded in Seattle with my elderly, injured father who is in a wheelchair and needs medical care. Our @British_Airways flight in from London was 1 hour delayed. Because my dad is in a wheelchair, he needs assistance off the plane and through the airport, this means we were last off. We then had to get our luggage, go through passport control and customs and when we finally made it to the counter to drop our bags, we were told it was too late, we missed our flight. Many other passengers also missed their flight. But when I called British Airways to get us on the next flight out, they claimed since we had 1.5 hours to connect, they owed us nothing. 1.5 hours in a huge airport with wheelchair assistance needed and an elderly injured man who just got out of the hospital, and they are leaving us stranded telling us to fork over more money for a flight home. Oh and this is ON TOP of us being stranded in Heathrow for 8 hours on our flight TO London. The wheelchair assist was late, it took over 1 hour for us to get off the plane. Because of this, we missed our connecting flight. The next one was 8 hours later. I asked if they could at least put us in a lounge since my father is older and in a wheelchair. They refused. They gave us no compensation or refunds. I don't know how any of this is even legal.

Can we please bring back THE HUMAN BEING? I don't want a chatbot. I don't want 14 menu options. I don't want to download another app. I don't want to “visit our help centre”. I WANT TO SPEAK TO A PERSON. Surely I cannot be the only one?
