Penn seniors Simran Rajpal and Gauthami Moorkanat under the guidance of DOS’s Leisha Elmore have been awarded the prestigious President’s Engagement Prize for their Educate to Empower program, aimed at addressing disparities in breast cancer screening.
Breast screening was just one part of an amazingly orchestrated health fair! @PennMedicine providers showed up across multiple disease sites!
Loved spending the day with our fellow Steven, resident @SaraGinzbergMD and so many amazing colleagues in the community promoting breast screening at a @PennMedicine Health Fair!

Dr. Mariana Chavez MacGregor presents @SWOG S1207 showing everolimus + ET vs ET alone did not improve IDFS in high-risk ER+/Her2- BC. Exploratory analysis showed improvement in IDFS & OS with everolimus in premenopausal pts. Seems like a common theme… @MDAndersonNews #SABCS22

1/ This comment and thread highlight issues with training as a minority. It also raises concerns about the new EPA system introducing added subjectivity for advancement and the impact on URiM experience. Thoughts on added bias with EPAs? #medtwitter #surgtweet
Association Between Resident Race and Ethnicity and... : Academic Medicine journals.lww.com/academicmed…
3 possible explanations provided. All are due to external agents. Could it be they were just less good at being residents?
2/ I would also welcome *constructive* comments on how we can implement EPAs in a way that doesn’t lead to systematic differences in opportunities and advancement based on resident identity.
3/My questions:Has racial bias in training been considered in the rollout of the Entrustable Professional Activity curriculum for surgical residency? Will there be periodic assessment for bias? Has a diverse group of surgeons/trainees been included in development? #surgtwitter
