Men’s mental health is a serious issue that needs our attention. Did you know that 75% of all suicides are male, and over 6 million men suffer from depression every year? Shockingly, 84 men die by suicide a week, and men are less likely to get help and more likely to be shamed for showing emotions. It’s time to break the stigma and start talking openly about mental health. If you’re struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, panic attacks, addictions, or any other mental health issue, remember that you matter. Speaking up can save lives and bring awareness to men’s mental health worldwide. Remember, you are not alone. Let’s work together to support each other and prioritise our mental wellbeing.

These statistics are alarming. And if you’re LGBTQIA+ we know this may be hard to read. Please reach out to someone you trust if you're struggling with how you feel. You are not alone.

Whether you use Easter as a time for family gatherings, religious observance and/or quiet reflection, it can often be a stressful and challenging for people living with dementia. To help you prepare, we’ve shared 5 ideas to help support those living with dementia over the bank holiday weekend: 1. Keep things familiar. Keep meals as close to their usual time as possible. Make sure the person gets enough rest and sleep. Consider arranging visits so there are less people around together. 2. Try themed activities. Decorate Easter eggs, write Easter cards, or make Easter foods such as simnel cake. Consider adapting Easter egg hunts with brightly coloured eggs in slightly easier locations. 3. Find dementia-friendly services. Visit a church with a dementia-friendly service and share stories about past Easter services. Watch Easter celebrations on television or online, for example, or playing hymns they enjoy. 4. Have a quiet area or room. Try to designate one room or space in the home a ‘quiet area’ where your loved one can relax. Use headphones to listen to music and block out the noise. This will allow the person to enjoy the celebrations at their own pace. 5. Consider mealtimes. Be mindful of what the person usually eats – a full plate can be daunting for someone who has difficulties with eating. Consider smaller portions or finger foods instead. 6. Plan ahead. Think about minimising situations where the person with dementia is put on the spot to remember names. Consider giving a gentle reminder each time a new person arrives, or ask people to introduce themselves. Visit our website for more Easter-related advice 👇 alzheimers.org.uk/blog/how-s…

Physical symptoms of anxiety we don't talk about: blushing sweating constipation diarrhoea the constant need to pee The physical effects that anxiety has on our bodies are very much as real as the effects it has the thoughts we have.
